Rep Power: 0 | Advertising.... I have a few advertising type questions for anyone that would like to chime in your imput would be greatly appreciated. I as a consumer find that when I'm searching for a salon on the internet/which now days is where I get most of my information about any business I use, that there is a real lack in specific information on any given salon. The directories are limited with name address and phone number, sometimes a website but thats only if the salon has one. Since I'm not driving to every salon to check them out and most dont want to tell you what they have, but just want you to come in it creates quite the problem for me as a tanner who wants more information before spending time and money to tan. So here is my question.... Do you as salon owners think the following would be a good idea or that the industry is lacking a good tanning salon information site? A place where every salon is able to show case their salon in great detail, including but not limited to pictures, pricing info and coupons for a very good price and also for tanners to get information tips and also find products. They can ask questions from you the pros and get them answered before they even decide if tanning is right for them. Now I have looked around and found such similar sites but they are very limited and are way too expensive to use for the salon owner as far as I'm concerned. I love tanning, the insustry and one day I want to have my own salon. One of the ways I plan on becoming more familiar with the inner workings of the business is to create such a site. I'm actually working on doing so right now but before I get really far into it I would like some imput from the proffesionals that would be using it to find out if it is something you all think would really even benifit anyone. I think it is something the industry is lacking and I would like to make it available. All suggestions and opinions are welcome good or bad...I would like to hear what you think. Keep in mind this is going to be for both tanners and salon owners. An all around comprehesive find everything you need site where all the information is really truely in one place...not missing and scattered like I have found. Please let me know what you think and thanks in advance! azpalmprincess |

Well since most of the people on here a proffesionals already in the business I thought I would ask the opinion of the potenial users before I jumped in blind or created something no one would have use for if that was the case. Maybe get some imput from others and find some information I don't know if there is any, which I'm sure there is. |

Go find a salon where they actually keep it clean, change the lamps regularly and do this at a fair price. You don't have to check out 500 salons to find a place to tan. Pick one. Pay your money. Get in. Tan. Get out. Come back day after tomorrow. Do it again. Thank you and come again.

We are in an information age where people want the most detailed information they can get and they do it at their conviences not what is good for a salon or any othe place of business they spend their money. I happen to disagree about finding info on a tanning salon before I go because the two times I signed up at a new salon it took a lot more effort then I should have had to put into it. Both times when I started looking I actually was very disapointed to find limited information on the places I did want to check out. I now live in Phoenix so I figured after moving here from Seattle I would find a lot of salons to go to but that was not the case. I walked in a couple and didn't like them so when that happend I turned to the net to find something better because I was not familiar with the area and I refuse to drive around all over the **** city to find such an establishment when I should be able to go on the computer and get every piece of information I needed but that was not the case. |

You will never be able to tell if a salon is clean or friendly or if they change their lamps regularly over the internet. You will also never be able to touch, feel and smell a lotion over the net. I bet most people that buy over the net do so after going into a salon to see what they like first. I understand your desire to get more info over the net, but you are truly wasting your time. there are some things that just have to be done in person.

Rep Power: 107 | Re: Advertising.... Unfortunately, IMO, it's always best to visit potential salons. Or you can hope the website actaully depicts what you will see and get. It may look great on that facny flash enhanced website, but you'll never know the true quality until you walk in and experience it. This is especially true when it comes to customer service. |
