Rep Power: 20 | Tanning Saturation Why are salons struggling? Its because of over saturation. In my area tanning salons are out numbering the beer joints. Recently I noticed on the other side of town where there is already a 18 bed salon and a 27 bed salon less than a mile apart, another salon right between them is going in that is a 30 bed salon. Why would anyone do that? It is a cut throat business that I really hate and my bet is within 2 years 1 or even 2 of those salons will close. This is one of the reason why I am starting to hate this industry and thinking about getting ou of it. |

Rep Power: 27 | Re: Tanning Saturation I think part of the problem is especially this time of year. People are coming in the door, seeing the waiting room full, and having to wait, and think we are making money hand over fist. These arent the same people that walk in the door in August and September. When they do the research, there are very cheap ways to get into this business and become the almighty "self-employed". I have thought at times about hanging up my rent bill, hydro bill and bed maintainence bill, all the other bills and saying......do the math. |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Tanning Saturation About a mile from here on the same street you can find a tanning salon one in front of each other and another one about 500 feet from them. This is really too much especially that the 3 of them are very lame. |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Tanning Saturation Shan you hit it right on the nail.....every busy season clients go "Wow you must make a killing....." yes where were you the last 3 months... had you tanned sept-december I would but since you only tan during the busy season that kills my killing...just what I think I don't actually say it... There are only so many clients......spread them to thin and no one does good....survival of the fittest I suppose if you can survive well the other close you have the chance to get their clients before the next jack in a box salon opens |

Rep Power: 28 | Re: Tanning Saturation I have chains to deal with, indy salons in my metro area are practically extinct. Our location is really good for convenience, which is our saving grace.
