Rep Power: 28 | negative comments on tanning? I was wondering if there are any of you that get a lot of crap from friends and family and even strangers about owning a tanning salon... for example... my husband told one of his employees that i own a tanning salon and the first words out of her mouth were, "oh so your wife sells cancer for a living, great!" he schooled her right off, so now she at least keeps her mouth shut! but i get really nervous around people, especially if i am being judged... and we are going to see his family for a week and i swear they think the same thing... whenever the salon comes up in conversation everyone clams up or i get a "hum...!" and that is the end of it. like they disapprove! so i was wondering if you ever come accross this and how you handle it. my husband said if it comes up he will take care of it and set them straight... but i wish i could handle it. when people come in to tan and say things i am usually good at taking care of it, but that is because they came to me and are on my terms... but family and friends? |

He noticed that I was tanned in the middle of winter and he asked if I went somewhere I told him no, I go tanning inside. He told me as long as you keep your skin hydrated at all time, protect your eyes and make sure you dont get burned no harms done. Yeah for Dr. Singer! |

Rep Power: 28 | Re: negative comments on tanning? that's what my husband said... they are ignorant! it is strange for me because i have never thought negative about tanning, not even when i was 16 and tanning. it never occurred to me to think bad about it, no matter what i heard or read. i guess i also don't judge people like they do me... so it was new to me! the way i see it now is that they people that say i am selling cancer "GET ALL THEIR INFORMATION FROM THE NEWS". I have really noticed lately that the news is all negative and all scary!!! i guess that sells! i am just stressing that someone will say something to me and i will freeze up and give tanning a bad name all in one swoop!!! |

Rep Power: 24 | Re: negative comments on tanning? One of my husband's friends always makes the "selling cancer" remark. I go into the spiel about the positives of tanning and UV for him EVERY TIME. Eventually, he's going to get tired of hearing a 10 minute dissertation on why his statment is ignorant and shut the **** up. If that fails, I'm going to print up an informative brochure on the benefits of tanning and just hand it to him.

Rep Power: 28 | Re: negative comments on tanning? i used to get the tattoo thing too... and then my cousin got INK all over his body (daggers and a girl with a black eye and broken face and something like "i should only have to ask her once" ) so they don't judge MY tattoos anymore! Hee hee! \ My thing is that i am one of the nicest people, so i always think that if they REALLY knew me and knew what i was about they would NEVER question my job! so i guess when it comes to family i can say "well they don't know me at all, let alone tanning". Do you ever get the people that walk by your store and say stuff? "yeah, like i am gonna go in your store and catch cancer" and mom's that tell their daughters "i would never let you go in THERE"... oh and because of our name we get little teenage witches that come up to the open door and say stuff like "uh huh... you know you want to tan this!" and shake their asses... *****es! |
