Rep Power: 103 | Nashville, 2006 Many people here are new and I would bet that they are going to a trade show for the first time this year. What tips do you old timers have for the newbies? What to expect, do you need to go every day, staying at Opryland vs. other hotels (probably too late to worry about that one), etc.

Make notes before going. ie. what products do you really want to try, what vendors you really want to talk with. Skip the ones that you are not interested in so you have more time with the ones you do want to talk with. Take the classes and take them seriously. If you can, tape them to bring home to your staff and go over them again and again. Just because Joe Blow wants to give you free samples, doesn't mean you want or need them. Choose quality and leave the junk. If you do bring back stuff that you will not be stocking in your salon. PLEASE Do Not hand out to customers... They will think it is the greatest and talk you into ording more to sit on your shelves to collect dust. ;) |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Nashville, 2006 I thought I would mention again the comfortable shoes. The first year I went I had a range of boots with heels. I was crying every step I took by the end of the show. You will regret not bringing comfortable shoes to walk around in! If you stay at Opryland the park yourself lot really is not that far from the hotel. You do not have to valet. If you are heavy drinker and are staying at Opryland prepare to sleep on one of the many benches inside throughout the hotel. Because after an evening of heavy drinking you are not going to be able to find your room again until you sober up! |

I have been many times and still end up walking in circles for the first day until I remember where everything is. Also...don't tell anyone I told you...but if you want to save a couple of extra bucks a day ($10 to be exact) park at the back of the Opry Mills mall parking lot which backs up to Opryland parking lot. It is really not much farther to walk than some of the Gaylord lots. Also, if you are unable to move your car from the Gaylord parking lot for more than 24 hours you will be charged for 2 days. I was 20 minutes late last year and had to pay the extra. :( I was not allowed to drive one night!! |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Nashville, 2006 **** it's hard to find your room there totally sober. I heard people or designers were sued when that place was built. The only way I found my room is when I was buzzed up. Where very comfortable shoes, bring breath mints and stand back from most distributors the next day after the parties and you will be intoxicated from their breath LOL. |
