Rep Power: 0 | ***Can i open my first tanning salon with $10,000?*** well is it possible? i looked at a good location and rent would start at around $1,400 per month for about 1200 sq feet in what i consider a great location. im not sure if its even possible to rent beds, nobody has e-mailed me back saying its possible. if anyone knows if you can rent beds please e-mail me at fmlbpitcher2010@cyber-rights.net, and please include some good places to rent if at all possible. i was thinking of started with 6-8 beds. i was going to start with low level beds and if my first year goes well i was going to upgrade from there. anyway, my question is do you guys think its possible to start on $10,000? and if so lay out some basic prices for startup, theres a lot i dont know... such as does my spot have to be inspected by the city? or do special power hookups have to be on the building for all of the electricity used for the beds? also whats an average electric bill look like for a tanning salon owner look like with 6-8 lower power beds? sorry for all the noob questions but i feel this is a good business to get into for a young person who wants to start a business for thier own. and i know it will take 60-80 hours of work a week and hopefully getting massive amounts of clients through ads. anyways any help would be much appreciated!!! ohh one more thing... tell me about your first salon or if you only own 1 what the startup costs were, what the surprises were, and if its profitable. thanks much, Mr C remember please e-mail me with any help on renting beds or cheap places to buy them fmlbpitcher2010@cyber-rights.net |

But will do a lease with you or a time share that you pay so much per hour depending on what type of bed. You also said something about using only low level beds which means your only going to make low level profits. I would actually be putting higher end equipment into a smaller salon. So the answer to your question is NO. |

Go to Walmart, get some of those Chaise lounge chairs and set up on a vacant lot. You do business only on sunny days. You could sell cheap since you have very little overhead. You could probably spend $1,000, save the rest of your $10,000 for your living expenses and, as you say, you could live for maybe 4 months before you lose your *** and go bankrupt. Or you could just go out and get a job. Probably much more sensible.

This is not directed at you personally. I would not recommend anyone getting into the tanning business right now. Look for investments that you already know something about. Maybe related to whatever you are working in now.
