Re: ACRYLIC

If the acrylics are discoloring, I would change them. If you have a meter, see if you are getting sufficient radiation. If not, and your lamps are withing their hours or % change, then it could be the acrylics. Chances are you are just over-reacting.

Re: ACRYLIC

Well if they have not been changed in 5 years, I would probably replace them.

Re: ACRYLIC

If you have no cracks you should change them at 3,000 or 4,000 hours they diminish the amount of UV they put through them after this but it also depends on what type of material they are using to make the acrylic.

Re: ACRYLIC

One gal on Tantalk polishes hers everyday.I'm thinking about changing my frosted to clear acrylics. Mine have gotten really cloudy lately for some reason and I think it's interfering with the tanning potential.

Re: ACRYLIC

Make sure to never use any product with ammonia. Also, the obvious......the idiots w/ the oil . Matt's correct , the "average" life of most acrylics is approx. 3,000- 4,000 hrs. Take meter readings with and without the acrylics on. This may be a pain but only needs to be done on occasion.(i do every 90 days) If there is greater than a 5 % drop in total UV with acrylics on it's getting close to replacement time. 10 % would be a max. amt. Like everything else acrylics "wear out". They become solarized.........letting through much less UV. Especially UVB.

Re: ACRYLIC

I'm beginning to think that is a problem I'm dealing with because I have put in two brand new set of lamps in my upgrades and I'm not happy with the results. I compained to the lamp company who has bent over backwards to help me but I'm beginning to think it's the acrylics.

Re: ACRYLIC

How about this...............I JUST replaced my Vipers and only 172 hours and one of them are cracked again! I can not even THINK of a client that is causing this!! Not many fatties here.
And no, it isn't from my dirty deeds. (That was a different Viper.)
