What sets your salon apart from others? How do you keep your salon professional?

in our area, the most obvious thing that sets apart from other salons is that we are clean! it seems sad to me, but that is what we hear as soon as they walk in the door! then we throw in the knowledge, customer service, and our equipment blows the other salons out of the water! we set our standards high, so i feel confident that we are light years ahead of them. this is just our area though, it could have been totally different 15 miles away!

I often wonder if clients or potential clients even care if it's "professional", what with all the hair salons with tanning beds, and even one place here that can't even be bothered to do a skin analysis yets pudders right along with their cheap azz pricing?

service.. people might want to pay almost nothing for it but after a while they are not happy because people always expect more for less.. thats walmart not us ... LOL.... u get what you pay for!

Umm? I think Wal*Mart is setting the standard for everything. cheap prices and an elder person to say hello seems to be working.

i wonder the same thing. i will bend over backwards to help people and to give them the knowledge that they need to make the right decisions for themselves... and they act put out! they mostly want their 20 minutes, regardless! so often i hear "if i am paying the full price, i want all 20 minutes".

it is funny... what really sets us apart from the other salons is 1) we use timers, and control client tanning time. not the other way around. the salon closest to us lets the clients "turn the switch" and tan twice in a row (40 minutes). and 2) we use skin typing and talk with our client, rather than just say "20 minutes room 2". 3) we change our bulbs (all at once, not just one bulb at a time)

Mine isn't a chain manned by college girls, or located in an underground parking deck. Mine has a nice decor, clean cool feel, and I treat everyone like gold.

Plus I have cheap, cheap prices and an old person greeting you at the door.

hmmm... old person, huh? i'm thinking on that one! we used to have a young college guy who was available to walk you to your car after tanning... but maybe just an old person at the door would work too.

I honestly don't think that many people care about the "Trump Plaza" treatment anymore, now this may depend on your location, but pricing is becoming very very dominant. Just look at all the recent posts about discounts! discounts for everyone for what ever reson at whatever time!! Discounts for all!!

I offer more services than any other salon I know. Actually I'm just getting started with this. Trying to go the spa direction with tanning rather than a tanning salon with spa services. Want a reputation of a one stop, get it all done and be beutiful and feel good when you leave.
