Rep Power: 21 | Dr. told her it's from the tanning beds... I have a VERY good customer who called me this morning & is going to cancel her membership. She says she has inflammed tissue in her eye & the Dr. told her it's from too much sun exposure from the beds. She ALWAYS wears her eyewear she told me. I know she's telling the truth because she is a responsible tanner. I don't get it. |

Rather than proving it isn't possible, maybe look for a irritant-free alternative for her. Most people trust their Dr.s, so might not be a 'friendly' move to insist her Dr. is wrong. |

First, I agree that most people trust their doctors, and physicians have established that there are two kinds of people in the world: doctors and morons. Which is interesting, since most physicians just regurgitate what they read in the med rags. That said, the doctor has no way of knowing what caused the inflammation. She didn't tell you what kind of inflammation it was. Pink eye? Uveitis? Does she wear contact lenses. Does she religiously wash her hands with disinfectant before rubbing the eye? Some people get pink eye in the left eye from driving with the window down. There could be a million causes, ranging from the laundry detergent she uses on her pillow cases to rubbing the eyes. It's unlikely, but not impossible that it was caused by the tanning. It's the same UV you get exposed to every time you walk out in the sun. Unfortunately, Joe and Jane Typical will have a reaction like, "Who are you to question a (pause for dramatic delivery) DOCTOR?" |

There may be soooo many other things that could have caused this. Like John said, ask her what kind of inflammation it is... |
