is there a proper way to store bulbs?

Just wondering, I am relamping here soon and will have extra bulbs. Do you just stand them up or do you need to lay them down? Just curious.

Re: is there a proper way to store bulbs?

I don't think it matters. I stand mine up in a storage room because it takes less space.

We stand ours up. Never had a problem (except knocking them over ~ broken a few over the years :) LOL )

Re: is there a proper way to store bulbs?

Bulbs usually are best stored over the colder months in a gentle bed of organic peat moss at a room temperature of no more than 50'F.

In the more Southern locales, bulbs do not have to be stored, and can be left in the ground 12 months of the year.

Lamps on the other hand, can be stored vertically or horizontally, as long as they are protected from breakage.

Re: is there a proper way to store bulbs?

I would rotate the position of the lamps if they are to be stored long term. Some makers even recommend that you flip lamps that are for vertical use every so often, to keep th phosphorus "moving"...............

P.S. Sent me all stored lamps.........
