Rep Power: 20 | Credit Card Supply Scam So I'm sure this has happened to at least a few people on here. (the short version) Our employee gets a call from American Payment Supplies to "confirm our order and shipping addrss"... my employee says she has no authority to do that. 20-minutes they call back to confirm our address... and guess what, 3-days later I have a box off credit card paper. So I wanted to share how I handled this, as I actually get a kick out of dealing with these telemarketing thiefs. I called them up all happy and asked who my rep was... when she told me, I said could you please thank her for all the rolls of free paper. When she explained it wasn't free and they had our employee confirming the order... BOOM! Phone fight is on... and I'm loving it because they are such scumbags and have no legal rights despite their claims. They recorded the 2nd call of my employee confirming our address... but they don't record the initial call of my employee denying them (how convienent) I just finished typing a letter to them. If anyone want to plagerize it for their own situation please feel free... I'm also sending the letter and the invoice in a thank you card from Hallmark as I have no intention of shipping back the goods or paying a restocking fee... etc. Here's my letter I just got a kick out of writting... enjoy, (because I am) To Whom It May Concern: Please give my deepest appreciation along with this thank you card to the APS Rep that sent us the 24 rolls of credit card paper for FREE! That is unless you plan on picking them up before May 1st 2006. If she would like to send us more FREE items, please continue to do so, but be advised we have no intention of paying for unsolicited and over-priced office supplies through telemarketing scams. This is an old deceptive (and unoriginal) scam preying on unsuspecting employees through telephone trickery, despite your recording of our employee verifying our mailing address. What you don’t have is the recording of the previous call in which that same employee was denying the confirmation of the fictitious order. Please be advised that aside from not paying this invoice (which also has no dollar amount, so you can “negotiate” a settlement); I have no intention of returning or aiding in the return of this box to APS. I will not ship it, nor will I even stick a return label on it. If you want it back, send in the UPS guy to tape, label, and pick it up for return shipment. After May 1st 2006 the box and its contents will become part of our property through our lost and found policy. If you try taking further action to collect on this invoice, not only will I make a formal complaint to the Better Business Bureau (of which APS has 50+), but also the Federal Trade Commission and will seek future legal action. Thank you again for the FREE supplies, and please be sure to give the "Thank You" card to the generous telemarketer… I’m sure she would love to display it on her desk and make all the other telemarketers jealous of the wonderful generosity and shipping charges she cost APS. |

Rep Power: 57 | Re: Credit Card Supply Scam This scam has been going on for years. Love your letter but I wouldn't even do that. Happened to me once and all I did was call thenm, tell them I was the owner and I did not order this stuff. If you want it back, send me a UPS Call Tag within 30 days. If you don't, I own it free of charge. |

Rep Power: 103 | Re: Credit Card Supply Scam I have had the same thing happen to me. I didn't pay for the paper either. One of my employees got a call a few weeks ago regarding trying this companies light bulbs. He thought they were sending him free samples, so he agreed. I got 36 75w light bulbs with an invoice for $349. I figure they really are free and the invoice was just a bookkeeping error. Even as bad as that is, my favorite is the call from the "home office" wanting to verify the make and model of my copier. If you ever fall for that, you get toner at about 5 times the price.
