Question dateing in the work place

Is it ok to allow employees to date one another?

Re: dateing in the work place

I almost hired one of my employees boyfriends but then decided that it wasn't such a good idea. There are just too many things that can go wrong with that. However, if they start dating after they are hired it is kind of hard to do anything about it.

Hahaha I don't even like my employees b/f in the salon. Mind you he's insecure and it shows.

Re: dateing in the work place

What chick said. What can you do - i do let them know one of them will probably end up fired and that is usually the case. Before i was manager i got several girls fired when we broke up - they would refuse to work with me. Since the issues werent work related they were let go each time.

Re: dateing in the work place

Boy, tough one. Again i don't feel there's ever a situation "that you can't do anything about" You make the rules. After all you pay the bills and take all the risks. I try not to be so politically correct all the time now. If anything makes me uncomfortable in my salon i'll address it and if i still feel uncomfortable about it, i'll put an end to it....no matter what. We do have a no boyfriend rule and just last night i had a customer tell me how she was glad i was there as it sometimes looks like a hang-out. Now keep in mind this was an older client and three tanners waiting for a bed may constitute a "hang-out" ....but i will address it today. Boy it is a tough one if they start dating after they've been hired. I guess i'd have to see how it was going.

Re: dateing in the work place

1. My wife is against me dating in or out of the workplace.
2. I only have female employees.
3. They can only "date" each other if I can watch.

Re: dateing in the work place

It's in the job description that I get my pick of the *** if you work at my place. If you are to be a team player you have to be for real.

I personally don't like hiring friends, let alone F-buddies.

That's even worse! The first employee I ever had started dating a client. She wouldn't help any other customer when he was here, he would come in when she was alone and talk her in to closing the shop early so they could "hang out" Eventually I got rid of her for that and other reasons, but I also lost him as a good customer.
