Hi...
We have a customer who buys our unlimited tanning packages and tans EVERY day. I am growing concerned, as first I thought it was just her way of "building a base"...but now she is 3 months in and still going STRONG!! None of our other customers do this. She says..."this is the best way to get the most out of the package...that way it is cheaper to tan"
We have tried discussing with her about taking days off. It is displayed on the consent to tan "moderately." and she signed this when she joined.
We have directed her to the Smart Tan web site...
I don't know what to do. :shy:
Any suggestions.
Her months is almost done...and I know she is going to do it again.

Any time you advise her to back it off, keep a record of it. You may even want to have her sign another release that states something about she was advised to slow down.

Tell her that not only is she doing a disservice to her skin (hate to see her in 10!), she will not get darker by going every day, it takes time for the tan to develop.

Thats the big thing, they think they are getting darker and they are not. They can't comprehend that. Thats why tanorexia is a good name for it. An anorexic person that doesn't eat thinks they look better the thinner they get when it is just the opposite. They get scary.

How about a tanoholic. Drink, drink, drink and you never get buzzed. Tan , tan, tan and they think they never get tan!

if she is only doing it to get the most for her money, then maybe you could offer a discounted package with a limit as to how often she can come.....and of course explain how concerned you are for her well-being

sell her sessions, rather than unlimited packages. Not sure how you would pull that off with her though.

we have a few of those - these are the same ones who complain about not "getting any darker" they have no idea how dark they actually are - maybe have another heart to heart with her and tell her she is actually losing her tan faster this way by drying her skin out and making it exfoliate quicker - what is her cncern? does she want to get darker or is she just wanting to get every friggin' pennies worth out of her package? - some people you just can't reason with.....

I have told clients like that to pick anyone and take a picture of them standing next to them and then LOOK AT THE PICTURE!!!!! It has worked on some.
