Rep Power: 21 | Is it really Priceless? I know I sound bit Wilma Flinstone, like I am stuck in the stone age but I don't have a credit card system in place.....alot of owners I talked to before I opened I told me it's to expensive and in a seasonal business like tanning you cut your expenses as much as possible..... I on the other hand never carry cash or checks I am a debit/visa girl so I can imagine alot of my customers would love if I except visa debit etc....... I have never lost a customer based on this since there is a Atm in the shopping center next to me....My sales are strong and my season has started off with a bang but I am very nervous to jump to quick..... but I was thinking people spend easier on credit they might be more likely to buy a highier priced bottle or some of our other products if I had excepted other forms of payment....any input for or against this is welcome.....also if your for a credit card machine as a possitive add-on what companies have you gone through??? I have called round and some are ridiculous...... If this topic has been discussed in the past I am sorry for opening an old can of worms but I am new to the site and you guys are like my advise panel...... Thanks ahead of time....And may you all have the busiest season ever:) |

If you are a member of your local Chamber of Commerce they normally offer discounted rates at specific banking institutions. I can not imagine not having a machine in place, I would venture to guess that 75 to 80 % of our business is plastic.

Rep Power: 25 | Re: Is it really Priceless? agree ^ ammex too costly. your looking at average (atleast here in canada) of 1.75 % for credit card transactions and about 14 cents per debit... not too much considering business they attract.

Rep Power: 21 | Re: Is it really Priceless? To Lease? To buy? every company offers some of the wall scheme....that claim will save you in the end but leasing seems crazy after 5 years you've had paid 6,000 for a machine.....Buying the rates go way up...grrr... Okay but I am going to do this the wise have spoken:) Anyone have a company that is really good that they would advise trying... My Bank is Bank of America but I am not impressed with their regular services enough to venture into another service with them..... |

It is the world of debit cards in this day and age and I hate that I pay a monthly fee plus they get a percentage but I really couldn't imagine doing business without it. The company that installed mine said that quite honestly most businessess go belly up before they pay their machines off so you could get a used one at a good price. Put an ad in the paper or something. Whenever someone wants to use AMerican Express, I charge a small fee to make up for the extra I get charged. DC and Scub are correct that amerx is costly here too! I use Merchant Services, Inc. and get the best rate I could find anywhere else. You can view their website www.msihq.com/info or customer support number is: 908-516-5901. Love my machine, it's fast and easy. GOOD LUCK! |
