Rep Power: 28 | Itching after Tanning We got a client in today that said that after she tanned with us last time she itched like crazy!!!! She said it was so bad she had to go see the doctor over it. Now she said that she did some research and said it could be because of the birth control she is taking. Is this true? If not what could be causing her to itch so much!?

Rep Power: 52 | Re: Itching after Tanning Itching is almost always a photosensitive reaction. And birth control can def. be one. Also if someone uses a very powerful bed, say a HP bed they may not burn but can develop heat retention which can itch like a mo-fo !!! Calamine lotion works well for heat retention, Benydral (?) for photosensitive reactions.

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Itching after Tanning You know, I had an employee tell me the SAME thing about herself the other day and a client she talked to that also had the same complaint. We could not fighure out what the problem was... my employee went to the doc and they told her that sometimes if your skin hasn't seen any UV light for a while, the large amt. all of a sudden "shocks" something in your nervous system?? causing a reaction. I dunno...? I have also heard the same thing as above: ^ that HP burns don't nessessarily turn red, but rather itch more than anything and that is how you know you've burnt in them... also there are so many random ingredients that can increase photosensitivity in people (besides birth control) did you know figs, cilantro, carrots and all kinds of other foods and spices can? So she could have gone to lunch earlier that day and not evening knowingly eaten something that could have caused a reaction. Hope it gets better! |

Rep Power: 0 | Re: Itching after Tanning Hey Everybody, I noticed something similar to this. I go tanning 3 to 4 times a week. I'm not itchy after a tan, but once I scratch my skin, all of a sudden i'm itchy and have to keep scratching. Not really on any med's of any sort, perhaps I should cut back a bit?? or get a better after tan lotion? Any suggestions on a good mild smelling after tanning lotion?? Thanks |
