Rep Power: 130 | ADVICE Alright. As most of you knwo I bought a salon in Sept and it has been doing great. I went in knowing 3 of the 6 beds really needed to be replaced. I have already replaced one. Now here is my question. I have an old Hex stand up that is doing the job. I don't have a huge demand for it, but it is one of the beds that needs to be replaced, a fuse went out yesterday not a big deal. Well where I am going with this is do I replace the stand up and get a another base bed like the Santa Barbara or do I nurse the stand up along for another year and up grade to an ergoline I cannot do both it is either the ergoline (which I can get more revenue) or the other two beds. The issue is the stand up again is not super popular... We did a pole new lay down or stand up everyone went with lay down. So the stand up would not be generating money like the lay down. HELP |

Rep Power: 21 | Re: ADVICE If the HEX is your only standup up do not replace it with a bed. The HEX may not be the best standup but as long as it does the job I would keep it. Upgrade one of your other beds and make more money with it. I have a HEX II and it is eight years old and it does just fine. Standup is not that high of a demand in either of my salons. (My other salon has a Sontegrea Sunami) |

Rep Power: 117 | Re: ADVICE Every salon should have at least one stand up don't you think? I have one sitting here waiting to be hooked up and customers can't wait for it (so they say). Maybe baby it for a while longer. Do you not have room to put another bed and keep the standup? |

Rep Power: 19 | Re: ADVICE Well, If u did a pole and everyone said that they would much rather have a laydown, I would go with that. Honesty, I am not a huge fan of stand up units. They give you a great tan, but I like to take that short little nap in a laydown. And if u fall asleep in a stand up... that can hurt!! ;) So, my vote would be the lay down. Good Luck!

I had a guy come in the other day and buy one month unlimited in it. The booth has 52- 200 Watt bulbs, and gives out a 6.5% UVB emmission. I think. which is very high. 12 min max. I like to use it to get over the "plateau" and also because it's great when you need something to get your sides and underneath the arms. Personally I think its a great thing to offer clients... let us know what you decide! |

My standup is the least used bed too but I wouldn't want to exclude the standup users that I do have. It may only be 20 people but that's 20 people that could go somewhere else.

Rep Power: 130 | Re: ADVICE Oh no I never planned on excluding it. It was a matter of replacing it first or adding another level bed to the salon... which was a lay down. I would NEVER eliminate it. Its the only one in town |

Rep Power: 25 | Re: ADVICE You say the stand up isn't getting a lot of use, and you are trying to decide between: 1. Replace the infrequently used standup, and add a base bed (lowest profit producing bed in a salon) OR 2. Hold onto the standup and still get those customers who use it now AND add a new, higher profit producing bed that the customers have already said they want. No decision -- #2. You make more money, and you give clients what they want. Win-win, absolutely! |
