Rep Power: 0 | stand up vs. bed Why are stand up sun tan booths usually stronger then beds? Everywhere I go, they say they are strong. I am looking for a machine that makes me look more like I have been in sun and more natural "day in the sun" look.. All the beds , I think I use, make me look dark and tan, but kind maybe a little fake. Any ideas? |

As you increase wattage you increase heat. 160 watt beds are hot to lie on, so untill they put a/c in the base they had usually 120's there. Standups, then increased wattage slowly to 220 watt. You can't lie on that comfortably. Tan times also were lowered. As low as 7 minutes. Now, IMO, with the facial technology, and cooling system, mist and other features, in addition to HP, beds have caught up and surpassed standup technology. When I opened I had a lot of standup clientel. I have converted most of them to beds. My culstomers love my beds. I do have a great Standup but the beds are most popular here. |

I can't tell you how many times i'll have customers say they've used a certain type of bed somewhere else and have blah, blah, blah. It comes down to each individual unit & how ea. salon maintains & lamps & cools the unit. It' impossible for a vertical unit to give you a more natural look. It sounds as though you prefer a redder tone so you might benifit from a unit w/ a higher % UVB.( of course then you'll have to be even more careful w/ exposure times) |
