Rep Power: 0 | Headphones or speakers? I have a question for both the tanners on the board as well as for the salon owners. 1st for the tanners: Would you prefer to go to a salon that has headphones instead of speakers or do you prefer speakers? If you prefer headphones would you rather have them provided for you to use or would you prefer to bring your own. Also would you be interested in buying a cheap pair to use ($5 or less)? Now for the owners: How many of you go the headphone route instead of speakers? Of those of you that do headphones do you provide for free, sell cheap pairs or do customers bring their own? If you provide them to use where do you get them and what do you pay for them? I have owned 2 salons and one had speakers and one had headphones that I provided (client could also use their own) I bought them at Biglots for 99 cents. At that price no one steals them and if they do you're not out much. The salon with headphones was much more popular with both the clients as well as my staff. Clients could hear music if they wanted or silence if they want that. The salon with speakers was always loud with 15 different typs of music and stations being played at one time. |

To me it's gross that people are sharing headphones, just look at the reciever of your phone and you'll find a nice build-up of oils on that puppy!!! And if people bring their own, they may forget them or not want to purchase them. I just do speakers in the salon with XM radio and bounce around with the stations to mix it up a bit. No complaints yet! |

I personally like the headphone route.... and bringing your own or buying them cheap at the salon, becuase sometimes when the bed has speakers it is sometimes really hard to hear the music over the bed without turning the bed REALLY loud. My salon has a little box right behind the bed on the wall that has 4 holes for the headphone jacks and each little hole plays a different station, so ya just plug the headphones in the hole and there ya go.... I like the earbud type of headphones like the ones that comes with the Ipod... it centers the music more in the middle of your ear.... and the sound doesnt really escape. |
