Max proves that your top selling lotion is what ever you want it to be!

This is my personal view/opinion of what is happening between Max Recone and Salon Owners.

I think Max Recone is trying form an “alliance” or buying group among select tanning salon owners. I think that is alliance will include brands of lotions, in-house training, bulk purchase discounts on other equipments, lamps, sunless and other supplies for these salon owners. I think it may even include so sort of network so tanners can tan at “associated “ salons. With the goal of making this group of “elite” salon owners work together to make more money for themselves and Max.

I think if you are not invited yet…. Do not hold your breath. I think the target group for the people in the “alliance” is the California Tan exclusive customers and all the other Max cheerleaders.

My view on the overall concept of a joint alliance of salons!
Not a new or original concept. Max is just stealing another idea from someone else and trying act like he invented it. Can anyone remember Bad Dog… Badder Dog…..

* This just proves to me that Max will steal any idea and claim it as his own. I am sure some Salon owners will cheer along saying that Max is the savior of the tanning industry. In my view, Max has stolen the ideas of others all along in the tanning industry claiming them as his own. I believe Max would say/promise/do anything to sell the products he is making.

My View on what this says about National Brands vs. Private Label Lotions!
The reality the lotions for this group is just a large PL brand. Funny, for years how Max said… You must sell national brands…. PL products suck…. The national brand are key to sell more tanning products.

* This just proves to me that Max was wrong. Salon owners have the power to make any brand of lotion their top seller. It requires salon owner focus and training of staff to make it happen. I believe Max would say/promise/do anything to sell the products he is making.

My Views on what this says about Diversion and stopping Diversion!
The reality is diversion effects salon owner profits. That despite the Max cheerleader claiming that diversion did not hurt them. It was a lie. Salon owners can not stock products that retail of $90 that sell on E-bay for $45. Salon owner must take steps to protect their personal profits.

* Max was CEO of California Tan. He had total control. He made the decision to stop selling to beauty suppliers. Max had the power to take the steps he may take with this new venture to stop diversion. He should have take these same steps years ago at California Tan. In my view, he did not do this because it would have hurt Cal Tan’s profits. In my view as CEO he was more concerned over his profits not yours. This also proves to me that Max will say/promise/do anything to keep people buying his products.

My View on what this says about Exclusive Programs!
The reality is exclusive programs suck for salon owners because the only restrict the activity of the salon owner and not the manufacturer. The salon can only sell that brand/brands. The manufacturer can go sign up as many salons where every they want including next door to your salon. Salon owners agree to fixed discounts and benefits from just stocking that product brand/brands. If that brand/brands do not have the top selling products then you are stuck at a competitive disadvantage to making your salon the best it can be.

* This just proves to me that Max was wrong about exclusive programs and how they help salon owners. It is clear in my view that Cal Tan with Max in charge changed their rewards structures and programs to make them not as lucrative as they start off being for salon owners. How long have salon owners waited for their “rewards” checks for last season? It is clear in my view that Cal Tan with Max in charge did not have the best packaged, conceptualized or selling brands in the industry despite what he said and promised to salon owners. I believe Max would say/promise/do anything to sell the products he is making.

My View on who this hurts the most?
The reality is that I think that this new “Max” venture will destroy what remains of California Tan. The members of this new “alliance” be in my view almost entirely the salon owners that are now Cal Tan exclusive. Just think that Cal Tan paid millions and millions for Max to meet/impress these salon owners and build his cult of personality. Now in my view when Cal Tan is struggling from the decisions Max made and Max still sits (last I heard) on the Cal Tan Board of Directors. I feel that Max is out cutting Cal Tan’s throats and stealing their customers.

* This just proves to me that Max has no loyalty to anyone other than himself. I believe Max would say/promise/do anything to make money for himself.

My View on this says about Max Recone!
The reality is I think that Max is a fantastic salesman. In my view Max has incredible abilities to charm people and get them to believe whatever is in his best intrest. He know how to impress people with outrageous dinners, parties and social events paid for by other people.
The reality is I think that Max is not a great businessman. The investor group purchased Cal Tan for a reported 68 Million dollars. I heard on the grapevine that last year it being offered to companies for $20 million dollars. If that is right then while Max was CEO, Cal Tan loss 48 million dollars in value. Look at decisions Max made when he had total control: Cal Care, Cal Tan Lamps, Zoe Girl brand, Sunless, Repackaging time after time, Stealing ideas from Designer skin, Diversion totally out of control and all the other things that happen while Max was CEO. Anyone question in my view why his contract was not renewed by the investor group.

* This just proves to me that Max is the PT Barnum of the indoor tanning industry with the view a sucker is born every minute. I feel that max is willing to say or use anyone so he can stay in the limelight and make money. I think his goal of this alliance is so he controls the purchasing of a large group of tanning salons owners from that he make is own personal riches. I believe Max would say/promise/do anything to make money for himself.

Why would I say this?
The reality is that I think salon owners need to know what I think is happening in the industry. Does this effect me. Not in my view, most of these salon owners that are joining this “alliance” where/are Cal Tan exclusive, so I was not selling to them anyway. If salon owners what to believe Max and his promises again then it’s their choice. I just find it ironic that no one else sees this happening and is willing to say anything or give their personal views.

* If Max wants to sue me for saying these things then I am willing to take that chance. I have a right to express my views about what I see happening in the indoor tanning industry.

Greg do you make it a habit to put down other lotion companies except yours? You do that often I recall at one time when you were drowning deep in the water no one came on here and bashed you. Yet you do it all the time to other lotion companies. Are times that tuff for you that you have all this free time to smear other companies?

We will see if what I am saying is right or wrong. I am going on the information, I have heard and my anyalsis of the situation as I see it. These are my views and opinions of what could be happening.

Funny, how you give Max a pass on the ultra personal mean/hateful comments Max has said to me and Amy at tradeshows in the past and the things he posted about me on line.

Wow - I guess you have a strong opinion. I know you and Max have had a few verbal spouts before but... I believe you took this thing over the top. I've personally worked for Max in the past and have worked with your company in past years and I think you have 2 different ways to do things.
My question would be - Who's right or wrong nobody just different ways to run companies.
I've had respect for Max and can say that I had respect for you also but you should really calm down before posting

I don't believe Greg makes up stuff from whole cloth, even about his buddy, Max.

Greg has sources of information. I may not agree with his conclusions (often) but I do smell a real story mixed in with all the supposition here.

So, what is the real story? Is Max working on a special project? Is CalTan working on another family brand that will be exclusive to select salons only?

Frankie, you are a CalTan Exclusive Salon. Can you give us a clue?
