Rep Power: 0 | I am in the process of designing my tanning salon and I was curious about everyones secondary line of business, meaning do you sell or provide additional services for your clients outside of tanning? I will have a juice bar and a smoothie machine. What do you guys have, and does it appear profitable? |

Rep Power: 107 | Neon....behave!....we have spray tanning which is busy for half of JASON, and we sell swimwear. We just ordered all of our supplies for the smoothie bar. Hope that goes well. |

Rep Power: 107 | Now that baffles me, why would sunless be busy during jason and not UV tanning?? Smoothie bars are okay, but I wouldn't expect too much from one. My swimwear sells the best in the winter after Wal*Mart moves in the Christmas trees. Sunglasses failed here, Gurkee's sandals failed here, t-shirts failed here, toe rings and anklets failed here. Skin care products failed here. Drugs, that's the way to go. |

Rep Power: 107 | The sunless has been a big money maker during months that we never expected it to be. Our busy months for spray are Feb -Oct. Go figure!...winter and spring trips, then on to prom season then weddings, and Homecoming in the early Fall. The weddings alone keep us hopping right up til mid October. It is a quick fix for lots of people who just don't have the time to devote to conventional tanning. It also is great for people who have had skin issues and can't be exposed to the uv, and lets not forget the pregnant gals......As for the smoothie bar, yeah I know it is probably not gonna be the biggest money maker, but what the heck. We are located in a very touristy town with tons of foot traffic, since we are located right on the lake........people are always stopping in to check out the salon and so many are asking for smoothies. We have several coffee houses on the strip, but no smoothies.....Swimwear sells in spurts for us, but it is a good profit so we carry them year round. T-shirts do okay, but we sell them for just a few bucks more than our cost. They are cheap advertising....we had no luck at all with toe rings and body jewelry....more was stoled than I ever sold!.....we are always trying to add something new to shake things up a bit, maybe I should look into the Drugs next!!!! |

Rep Power: 107 | I have no major sales from wedding after 5 wedding shows, no one asks for smoothies. Smoothies, what the heck?? I looked into it, and it was gonna cost me $4500+. Nope. Use your salon for a drug ring front. |

Rep Power: 117 | I looked into smoothies and cappucino's and found out there are too many Health Codes and guidelines that opens a whole new world of trouble. Another salon I know tried it and said she ended up throwing more away at the end of the day than she sold. Let us know how it goes for you when you decide. I'm curious. |
