Has anyone tried to run AOL XM radio thru their salon. I am leaning toward doing TFBN but AOL XM radio sound great. How do you run music from your computer to the rooms if I decide to go AOL XM. Any techno experts out there, please help.

That is what I do. I have the room speakers all linked together running to an amp and just connected to the computer through the regular speaker port. I also ran a seperate set of speakers to the lobby pair so I can raise and lower those without disturbing the volume levels within the rooms. Each room has ceiling speakers with volume controls in the center in the walls at the head of the beds. It only cost me a total of $400 for parts and that includes me having the amp already and the cost for my electrician to run the wires in the walls for a seamless finish.

Just make sure to either run from a satellite computer or disable ALL sounds on the main computer. Create another account so there is no mail or IM capabilities and again disable the sounds.

Thanks Jeff, I will pass the information on to my electician. Do you like having speakers in the rooms? Does it get too noisy? I was thinking of headphones.

Speakers are better in my opinion. I hate the idea of headphones always repacing them.

Jeff, which XM 'station' is the most popular in your salon? Right now I am listening to XM Kiss and it sounds pretty good.

Kiss is good and a couple around it.(#20, #22) Depends on the time of the day.

You know those digital cable music stations? I guess the corporate salon I used to work for just subscribed to digital cable and we piped that music through the salon. It was cool because of all the different selections we had. There was seasonal, big band, alternative, classic rock, the list goes on and on. Anyone else ever done it that way? I wonder what the cable bill monthly would compare to satellite radio monthly?
