According to a National Retail Federation (NRF)

survey, Halloween spending is expected to reach $3.3 billion this year - a 5.4% increase over 2004. Young adults 18-24 are expected to increase their spending by 30 percent this year over last year and spending by 25-34 year-olds is expected to rise 13.9 percent.

Instead of waiting for Christmas to provide your sole 4th quarter rally, right away you can turn Halloween into a lucrative sale event for your business.

Maybe not, but, like any other holiday, it's an opportunity to "dress up" your place of business and make it fun or just do something different for a change.

There are some things you could do for Halloween:

"Trick & Treat promotion: TRICK them into believing you just spent a week in the sun by TREATing yourself to a 30 second Mystic Tan"

"It's not sexy to be white as ghost, even on Halloween!"

"Scaring everyone this Halloween with your pale, washed out complexion?"

Better yet, how about a billboard or newspaper ad entitled "Do you believe in ghosts?" that shows a group of scantily clad hot (and well tanned) young guys and girls obviously frightened and pointing in shock and amazement at "seeing a ghost" with the ghost being one of their peers lily white and pale (as a ghost!)???

I set up spooky specials on my windows, with ghosts, pumkins, and my short term specials. Will do it for all the holidays. This is my first year so we'll see what happens.
