What are the opinions on the trade show? Attendance seemed way down. I'm excited about some of the new lotions, DS and AG seem to have some neat things coming out. Body Drench seems to be slowly fading away, JA always seems rude unless you are purchasing there. Speaking of JA, the guy in his underwear.. was that necessary?

Over all a good show, could have used more lotion samples, but recieved good information.

The Body Drench Go-Go Dancers were annoying. Walked by the Darkside booth on Friday, no sign of the Playboy Playmate of the year (my husband was disappointed- LOL). No new samples from Cal Tan (unless you count the CT Seven bronzer they were throwing at the audience that you were lucky to get one). Agree that AG and DS have some exciting new stuff that I can't wait to try. AG new skin care line seems impressive, even had the plastic surgon who created it present it. Bed vendors seemed too eagar to push....not even interested in buying and we somehow still came home with a quote on a bed we were "just looking at". I don't have anything to compare it to as it was our first show, but I am glad we went.

I know all the owners out there who have been to previous shows will either dis the show or say they were "sooo glad they didn't go". But from someone who has never been, we came home with some great stuff and good information and I thought it was well worth it

Attendance was way down? This was my first show, so I don't know how many people came before... but, I know it's still plenty crowded and I wouldn't want to be there if many more people were there.

Overall, I'm pretty satisfied with the show. I've met some GREAT people, sampled some really nice product, learned a lot! But, duuuuuuude, what's up with the naked John Abate guy??? There IS such a thing as "bad naked". To be quite honest, it changed my mind about purchasing. (I'm opening my first salon in November, so I'm still deciding on what lines to carry)

I carry some John Abate product but their booth was so small and there were so many people hanging around that we just walked right by.... Never saw any naked dudes.

Body Drench fading away? From what? They were never a contender anyway.

Walk away from a busy booth? Maybe there was a reason it was busy?

Look at the reasons that the show was bad. Not enough freebies. Maybe your salon is down cuase not enough freebies?

Indoor tanning is into a major slump as per the 2005 season. Now what do we do about it?? Ask for freebies?

I'm not looking for a hand out. Just a hand. I want to "try before I buy". I don't want to SELL the freebees...I want to decide what to bring in to my salon. I got plenty of "freebees" I'm not sure why eveyone says "not enough freebees". I was just disappointed in Cal Tan lack of "freebees". How am I going to decide what to bring in from their new line. I hope they still plan to send out the bottles like they did last year. If that's their plan, then I won't be so disappointed.

Busy probably because they were "handing out freebees".

I like to try the lotions before I sell them, and I like the idea of sitting through presentations to get the samples. I got samples after the Cal -Tan presentation. Samples are a great marketing tool for the manufacturers that some of them use, some don't. Just my opinion.

The naked JA guy was a turn off, not only was that "bad" naked, he was pushy to.

I did enjoy the trade show and plan on returning next year.

As a salon owner, I saw nothing to complain about.

The JA folks are some of the best people in the industry. If anyone had a bad experience with them it was, I'm sure, unintentional and an aberration. As one of the few "selling" booths at the show, it was tighter this year at their booth than at past shows where they had a big island display at the front door. If you are new, you don't have the benefit of experience and perspective. I believe JA will be back, stronger than ever, and soon.

The crowd, according to those who would know, was way down this year. This is 2 bad shows in a row for the ITA. The venders, especially the majors, have just cause for rebellion. As I have written before, it may be time for the ITA to reconsider their fundraising model. Venders, certainly, are reevaluating their participation.

And the biggest open question of the show is, still, what's up with the ITA going to the Green Valley Ranch, June 20-23, with the annual Today's Image Tanning Expo happening at the Mandalay Bay, June 28-30? How many salon owners can take 11 days in Las Vegas in June? How many will want to? How many venders have the means or desire to participate in two back to back shows in the same town. Why? Why? Why?

Going into the third day of the ITA's show, why are there still more questions than answers?

Show was a rip off! What's next? Car dealerships going to charge $50-$125 to look. After all, the vendors paid $500 and up to rent a spot in the convention center, the ITA must be profiting off of this show.
