Can you count to 7?

Since you may be new, I'll type slowly. A successful show is a 7 figure fundraising event for the ITA.

Maybe seasoned salon owners can find reasons the show wasn't as good as it was before, but for me, as a first-timer I thought it was great. I learned a lot and met some wonderful people. I have no doubt that I'll attend again next year.

How crowded was it before???? I was almost tripping over people every day on the show floor. I've been to car shows at Detroit's Cobo Hall that had less people.

I went to the show last year in Orlando. I wish I could have went this year but with just opening a salon this year I couldn't. I think that I would have gotten a lot out of this years show. Now that I have my feet wet and have an idea of what i'm really looking at and for. Maybe next year???

Wendy Jo - in years past you have had to wait in lines for 30 min - 1 hour plus to get into the DS and AG presentations.. wall to wall people.

Yes the show was a slow one. In years past you couldn't walk through the isles, this year you could have driven a car through.

But that is a good thing for us salon owners... We could actually get face time with the vendors.

Bad thing for the vendors cause they won't make many sales and that sq. ft. is expensive

Let's just hope the tanning industry has a better couple of years or there may not be 'good' shows again

I just returned from the Nashville show, and was kind of disappointed. I went a couple of years ago and thought it was a much better show. It seemed like there were fewer vendors and attendees this year. I was amazed by the lack of samples compared to past shows. How do suppliers expect us to sell their products if they don't let us try them? Am I the only one who thinks that some of the companies, especially AG, just come out with way too many new products that are too similar? I also found a lot of the packaging to be kind of tacky and geared to the really young crowd. I don't know about anybody else, but the under 25 set is a very small portion of my clients. My clients are mainly in the 30 - 50 age range and go for more sophisticated looking products, not to mention some of the stupid names they put on the lotions. As for the Opryland Hotel, it's a nightmare! Under the best of circumstances it's a difficult place to find your way around, but I was there in a wheelchair due to a broken leg and found I had to go way out of my way to get where I needed to go in order to get to elevators and ramps. The hotel itself was one big screw up. After calling twice to make sure I had a handicapped accessible room, I got there only to be sent to a regular room where I couldn't possibly get into the bathroom. They moved me twice in about an hour and a half in order to get me into a handicapped room, this after being told at check-in that there were no other rooms available. When I finally did get a handicapped room it only had one bed, so the employee I brought with me had to sleep on a roll-away. The food absolutely sucks there! The Old Hickory is the biggest rip-off ever. I think it's time to give up on the Opryland. All this aside, I did get a chance to take a good look at some new equipment and get some fresh ideas. I think I'll try Vegas next time.
