Rep Power: 21 | I think $9.95 for 2 weeks unlimited tanning would be the better option, as long as you make it completely clear that it is a one-time, grand opening price. No one, except bottom feeders, really appreciates something for nothing. You make a little money, and your customers get a great deal. I think that would be your best win-win option. |

Rep Power: 25 | The success of these offers depend on your sales ability. A 1-2 week promtion gives you that much more time to have them in the salon, seeing how nice it is, and "close" them on a package. If you do NOT plan on trying to "close" them to be customers, then yes, it'll just be nice cheap tanning for them and an expense to you. This will work BEST if you have "upgrade" beds available and the intro special is for the base beds only. Then, for a small upcharge (an extra $1-5 maybe), they can try a "bigger bed". Your GOAL should be to get them into and experiencing your bigger equipment - assuming you have it. $9.99/week is a pretty "common" special around here - not enough to drive someone to change their patterns to find a new salon or go tan during a time when they really aren't thinking about tanning. If you have upgrade beds (several), and think you/your staff are good "closers" - I'd go with a free week of tanning (and when they get there, encourage them to try the "better" beds for a slight charge - you'll still get $10 or more out of them). You WILL attract more people with "Free week" than "2 weeks for $10". But if you have mostly base beds, stick with the 2 weeks for $10. Understand - this is the SLOWEST time of the year and the LEAST likely time to get a good "Grand Opening" turnout. You would be better off doing this in January. Only exception is you MIGHT get a good crowd of Homecoming tanners now, and a few other "curiousity seekers" and then you'll have SOME names in your data base at least. But if you really want bang for your buck - hold off another few months and do it in January or later. _________________ Quote: On 2005-07-20 22:26:00, Neon Beach wrote: sunsally, as I mentioned has good advice And I stand by that!! Rep Power: 143 | I never even thought of that $9.95 for two weeks when I opened. I did the one free week and it worked out great for me. I did it for the first TWO months open and I doubled my overhead both months. They didn't spend $$ on tanning and applied it to their lotions. They got a terrific tan and others noticed. They bring someone in, they get rewarded. I still have almost 90% of the clients active. |
