Rep Power: 0 | Hey everyone, I have a potentially serious situation on my hands. A seemingly ideal employee of the last 9 months has been accused by one of my customers of looking over my walls at her applying lotion. She has beena good customer of mine for the past year, and I met her father and had a good interaction with him when he bought her a package one day. Supposedly my employee showed her to her room, and then somehow looked over the wall. The only way this would've been possible is for him to climb up on a bed in the next room. My manager on duty at the time is female, and knew nothing of this until the police came to question the male employee. He denies it. The manager said when the girl left she was in good spirits, and said nothing of the incident. I contacted the father at his request, and assured him the employee will no longer be working here, even though I can't prove he did or did not do it, and further assured him there will only be females working in my salon from now and, and offered his daughter free tanning for life as an apology for something I can't verify even happened. The police are not going to pursue the issue, but the father has mentioned the words lawsuit, and is in the insurance industry. I can't do anything more for him other than what I have already done. What does everyone think? My lawyer says we just wait and see, but my business could potentially be smeared by these accusations, and I have no control over it. |

Rep Power: 0 | It sounds like you've put the fire out to the best of your ability. Especially considering it can't be proven. Unfortunately you will just have to wait and see, hopefully you firing that employee and offering free tanning for life will be more than sufice. Best of luck with this sticky situation. I think you have done the right thing. |

You could run into sexual discrimination issues if another man applies to work for you. And I don't know about firing this one either (don't know about laws in your state), but be careful not to say anything that he could use for grounds in a wrongful termination suit that could also turn to sexual discrimination. I would talk to a lawyer just to be on the safe side. |

Get security cams for your public spaces, they cost about $2000.00 and are cheap insurance, reviewing the security cams can help solve all kinds of problems, thief, rules infractions, and all sorts misconduct by either customers or employees. In this case, you don’t even know if the misconduct was by the customer or employee, and NOT for your sake, but for the employee’s sake, I hope you “guessed” right. Tom |
