I'm new to all this, but I don't want to buy from someone that might put me out of business some day with their own salon.

Is this common?

Distributors that own their own salon are not in the business to pur you out of business. How could we sell you next years equipment?

The smart distributors will not sell too close to their own salons. Heck, you could put them out of business.

Distributor that have salons are not there to put you out of business. There are many distributors that own their own salons, but I will not mention any names...

I don't there are too many, and I don't think it does any good to name names. I have a distributor that started out as a salon owner. I've heard they levereged business out of salons by promising not to put a new salon around them if they buy from them. I don't know if this is true or not. But it wouldn't surprise me. That's business. May not be ethical practice in my book, but it's not my business. I do know for a fact that if you're buying a whole lot of product from one of these salon/distys, they may start to think that putting in a salon in your area might be good for their business, whether they lose you as a customer or not.

My disty started with a salon, now has 3 I believe, along with the wholesale part. He is 180 miles from here with no sign of moving this way. I like that.

I am a disty with my own salon. I refuse to sell any sunless booths within a certain milage that I have agreed to with my customers. It would be stupid to have too many within a small area. That drives down prices as you are competing for the same customers.

I have 3 Mystic booths withing a 2 mile radius. I sell my sunless for higher. They're price wars are taking them out of business. I'm doing fine.

Four season used to own salons before they changed hands. I dont know about now. I never ordered from them because they are only 5 miles from me, but I did have one of their techs work on a bed one time. I dont know anything about the new owners.
