Rep Power: 0 | I am fairly tanned; I have established a reasonably dark base. I am slightly frightened about skin cancer so I don’t want to tan, someone please shed some light? I just want some supporting facts. The lady the works at my salon is very, well good at scaring people off. She told me that I could have skin cancer right now, and you can get it from 1 session. She tells me that tanning is bad. I want to believe its good but I need some proof. Anyone know about this stuff?? |

Rep Power: 0 | mizzbronze, Neon's previous post on this is really good, please read. Second: My brother-in-law has skin cancer and never tans and works indoors. So I am a witness to the truth on tanning. Everyrhing with moderation sometimes even a good thing can be too much. |

Rep Power: 0 | Skin Cancer has a latency period of 20 to 30 years. The UVB equipment that Derms use in there practice are pure UVB to treat skin diseases such as Psoriasis that have to be treated for life. If you look up Psoriasis Treatments, you will find that the ADA and the AMA say that the UVB Treatments have been tested and are a SAFE TREATMENT. The equipment we use in salons have very little UVB, just enough to stimulate Melanin. We have people tanning in our salons that are well over 60 with nosigns of skin cancer. Please keep in mind that the research over the last twenty years has always linked skin cancer to severe burns. If you will tan responsibly, without burning your chances of developing skin cancer is very remote. If your worried about dying from skin cancer don't; According to US Statistics you will be three times as likely to comit suiside.
