How about creating a section titled Distributors or Lotion Reps. Tan Today has a section like that and it is informative.

Obviously there must be guidelines.

Just a suggestion.

Awwww... I like the book review section- always good to know what the comp is reading... or if the comp doesn't read... or what successful folks have/are reading or those that aren't doing well, but refuse to open a book, much less their minds... hmmm, let's keep the book section, eh? :^D

Distributor/Lotion Rep section sounds great as well, would free up a lot of spam area.

Ha ha, Genius... Yes, spending time moving files from one side of the desk (or board) to the other isn't really effective is it?! I like that one!

But having a directory even (although not the site's responsibility, of course) would be helpful. Even if it was a list of those that offer banner advertising here, so we do not have to wait for the banner to come up, we can go to them directly from one point of access on the site. Starting out or searching for new distributors/reps is a tough task, it would be a draw to have a compiled list as a starting point and may be attractive to those considering placing a banner ad?

Some things I've had to find by accident- Open Forum has "free lotion" and "best way to sell lotion" on it- If I were looking for information on lotions (as both of these are great- free samples and strategies) I may have missed them by looking in the lotion section for that info... Help Desk has a sticky- "Info on Tanning"...? not where I would have looked.

What would I like to see? (well, you kind of asked...!)

I would like to see a "Small Business" forum...where issues that relate to independently owned businesses can be discussed. Currently, issues are discussed in all forums and many times genuine business questions get pushed aside... A forum where discussing business strategies (that any business owners would need, not just related to tanning salons) such as effective networking, legal issues and remedies, always looking at the next step to take, sharing strategies for updating business plans along the way, leasing issues- rent issues, contract writing/signing... etc. would be cool.

I would also like to see a forum that addresses important issues that affect the business of tanning... currently folks post information in many different places- Open Forum, in the PTAF section... everywhere. The classifieds must be moderator approved, this section should be like that too (remember, this is in the make-believe world of "my perfect forum") so that anything posted could be confidently cited and referenced and that individuals can find the information themselves for use in their local areas. I have used search for this many times and there is some really good information on here that goes back quite some time... but much of it does not contain a reference so a great portion of the information could not be used by individual owners in their areas. It'd be great to have a central place to share quality, citeable information for our clients and our local media...

Other than these additions, I think this place is layed out very well. I think you CAN have too many forums and the information gets harder to find because people post in each forum indiscriminatly.

I have to agree.There are more appropriate forums for alot of the threads.I'll try to find a thread I read for some info & have a heck of a time finding it again.This is the most user friendly format of any of the indoor tanning sites.Owner or tanner.
