Rep Power: 34 | There is a salon in the same town as me, about 30 minutes away not really my comp, at least I do not feel like they are, anyway I saw the salon this weekend,( I have seen it before, just this was the most recent and what sparked my intrest) I have never heard anything about it but it has been around for awhile now. (Years) and thats what has me interested the fact that I have HEARD NOTHING about it, which we all know cusotmers come in and say I have been tanning here or there and this and that, But I know nothing and have heard nothing about this one salon. So naturally my curosity has got the best of me. Would it be totally unforgivable if I went there to tan, just to get the curosity out of me??? I have not been to one salon in my town, not one, never had the desire to or want to, but for some odd reason this one I want to go too... _________________ [ This Message was edited by: malibutansnc on 2005-06-28 15:06 ][ This Message was edited by: malibutansnc on 2005-06-28 15:08 ] |

Rep Power: 22 | I have been to one other salon. The owner knew who i was and new i was coming. It was a new salon and i just wanted to look around. If your going and they are really not comp why dont you call and ask. You may get a free visit out of it. I dont shop or call other salons as many of you know. If you feel comfortable doing it - to each his own. Good luck - doesnt hurt to call. |

Rep Power: 24 | I have had the most respect for other salon owners that have come in and introduced themselves and told me who they are rather than the stealthy ones that come in with a BS story or try to make me think they will come back and buy the moon.... I now feel that I have a college in the business that I can call with questions and share info (like bad checks) We often sit together at seminars as well. |

Rep Power: 68 | There's nothing wrong with going to a salon outside of your "territory" and having a look. Nor is there anything wrong with going to competing salons in your "territory" and having a look either. As long as you're not sabotaging their equipment or trying to steal employees, who cares? I firmly believe in playing your best game so to speak, but it's also good to know what your competitors' strengths and weaknesses are when you're planning your game. I'm not talking about ammo to use against them when customers come in to your place and talk about other salons. You should always keep the content of those conversations about you and why they should tan with you. But it's good to know where you stack up on equipment, pricing, service, cleanliness, etc, against them. No, you didn't do a bad thing. |

Rep Power: 34 | I would most certainly tan... they could have great equpiment but bad bulbs and at least I'd feel better knowing I paid for something while I was there Salon owners here from what I hear don't even try to get along, BUT I have meet the owners of two salons here in town, and they where both really nice, and one of them is right around the corner from me, but we talked like we where friends not competitors and I personally am glad we did.... |
