I have a question... I'm 20 years old and I've had acne problems all my life as I got older they got a little better, but I've been tanning for about 3 years and when I go to the salon reguarly I notice that I don't have any problems, no break outs nothing...but if I skip a couple days then I notice that my face starts breaking out. But the minute I go back into the bed for about two days it all clears up again. I wash my face the same...I don't tanning lotions on my face, so if anyone can tell me why this is I would love to know..I'm not complaining by any means, just want to know if I'm the only one like this?
Thanx!!!

its the uv rays or watever in the tanning bed, they help remove elminate, the sun has a similar affect and there are even dermatological machines that use these rays for acne exclusively but their more expensive i think. the tan also helps cover it up.

My best friend had horrible acne, like painful cyst-like acne. She went on accutane for like 3-4 months (you can't tan while you are on the medication) but now she never has any breakouts and is really happy...her skin is nicer than mine now. lol. That could be an option if your acne is bad.

I had maybe 5 pimples growing up and going through puberty. As soon as I hit my mid 20's I started having acne. Tanning clears my skin as well and found that washing my face of make up prior to and using a good facial lotion like vivid from fiji my skin has never looked so good.

The main reason you aren't getting acne as bad as before is becuase the tanning bed is drying your skin out. Which is why people spend so much money on quality lotions while tanning, to prevent this. You might benifit from using a facial lotion such as Cal tan's X appeal daily because it's hypo allergenic and own't clog pores. The skin recovery ingredients might help prevent/fix any craters you might be getting.

I've noticed that tanning helps to clear my skin as well. A lot of customers have also commented that it clears their skin as well. I assume it's from the UV drying your skin and killing some of the bacteria on your face.

I dont know but i started tanning for the same reason. I know a dermo will tell you different - that tanning will increase breakouts. Doesnt seem to be that way though. I dont think we really know because we only know what doctors want us to know - we all know they aint that bright when it comes to tanning.

I am the same way. I break out if I am not using the beds and my face clears after I start tanning again. I took a break from tanning my face and at first I broke out but after about a week it cleared up. You may stop tanning your face and use a sunless tanner (like the Big O DS) or have your face airbrushed. Just an idea....I am way past 20.......lol

U KNOW....
JUst thinking...
I dont think people realize or the doctors dont tell that those lights they use...laser is pretty much the same as UV lightss...hum makes you wonder whos side they are really on.

Thanx for all the info. I don't like have horrible acne or anything, but I do have the breakouts here and there if I'm not tanning. I always wash my face right before tanning and then wash it again after, and I don't use a lotion on my skin b/c the lotion I use is a tingler and I don't want my face all red for 30 mins(lol), but when I wasn't using a tingler, just a bronzer and I would put it on my (clean) face and tan I would still break out! I don't know maybe I'm just weird?? lol!!!! But I'm going to try some of the lotions suggested and I'll update you on if they work.. Thanx a million yall!!!
