Rep Power: 0 | Hi there! We are opening our tanning salon on June 1st (the countdown has begun!!!!!)and we have had several negative comments about the electric bill. One lady went as far as to tell me that we will only make enough to pay the electric bill. Can anyone give me positive feed back. I know tanning beds really suck the juice but it is really that bad? |

Rep Power: 0 | I am confused....call your electric company and see if you can have them put you on a "budget" , we have done this with a couple of locations..."but' and I say "but"....remember you have a bill that is continuing to accumulate.! |

Rep Power: 68 | Congratulations and welcome to the biz! I don't mean this to sound too simple, but here goes. Don't worry about your pwr bill too much. Conserve power when you can by only running the AC during peak biz hrs, and make sure your doors are closed when you do. Conserve energy by turning of lights when not needed, and consider going to a coin op laundry and drying one huge load of towels at once instead many loads at the shop. Hopefully, the only time your beds are running is after someone has paid you fair market value to use them, and your electrical variable costs of use, lamp and bed depreciation, etc. are built into your pricing. The simple part? Personally, I think electricity should be the least of your worries when you're brand new. Focus on drawing tanners into your store, and then have a good plan to get them to stay. Good luck. That's all I have to say about that. |

Rep Power: 0 | Quote " turn off lights and AC " What the **** kind of salon are you running. I want my customers to be as comfortable as possible. We keep our thermostats at 71 degrees at all times, night & day, open or closed. Most people do not realize this but commericial properties are billed in 2 ways. One by usage and the other is Demand, if you turn your AC on and Off it will cost you more to run than leaving it on. Your AC unit works twice as hard when the space gets hot and you kick it on, which also raises your demand reading. That demand reading will stay at it's highest point until the meter is reset back to zero, therefore charging you at the highest readingfor the whole month. This demand can be raised to it's highest in as little as 1 hour if you come in and turn everything on at the same time, Beds, AC, etc. I hope this makes sense and helps, thanks |

Rep Power: 0 | I agree with worring about a low electric bill rather than a high one, but tanstan is also correct about the price you will pay if you "surge" you amps all at once. This goes for running all your beds at the same time too. If you are doing this because there are paying customers in all of the beds at once, well then you are in a win win situation. But if you for some reason have say the urge to test your lamps all at once then you could be putting yourself in the high demand price range for the entire month just because you wanted to check your lamps quickly. If you find yourself or anyone working for your store, looking to test beds, then do so one bed at at time, with cool down time in between. And for your HVAC needs, leave your thermostat set at your favorite temp and avoid the ups and downs that drive the price up. |

Rep Power: 0 | I can not begin to tell you how encouraging all your responses were. And you are absolutely right ... better a high bill than a low bill! That's going to be my favorite saying, & I can not wait to use it on the next person that tries to discourage me! |
