Rep Power: 0 | Hello, First allow me to thank everyone for taking the time to answer my questions. I am opening a new mobile tanning service, and I am in the process of looking for affiliates in my local area. As many of you are spa and salon owners, I would like your feedback/opinions on a few questions I have on how to most effectively go about approaching potential affiliates. Question #1: What are you busiest times of day? And when would you be most receptive to an appointment? Question #2: Do you prefer a phone query to set up an appointment or a direct, if unsolicited approach? Question #3: Would you be willing to be paid on a commission per tan basis? Question #4: Do you feel clients would be uncomfortable with a male tanning technician as opposed to a female? and why? Thank you so much for your answers and feedback, and I hope to hear from you soon. |

You may try Boys Town in Chicago, or San Francisco, or Maine .... those might be some profitable markets for you, especially if you offer the Brazilian spray![ This Message was edited by: mr belvedere on 2005-05-23 21:24 ] |

Rep Power: 24 | I am a female & have been spraying for about 11 months now , we did train a male but everyone wanted me to spray them, then again I have read here on TT about males that do spray. Just don't know?? Some of the questions appear as you want to come spray our clients ???? most salons offer their own sunless services, so I guess that I am not getting the whole picture. When do I want to make an appointment ???? please explain that to this old blonde. MR. B.....that was not neccesary. |

Rep Power: 0 | I'm not following the line of questions. It sounds like: A) You're asking for advice on when/how/where to solicit from us (salon owners) B) You want to tan our customers. Since I'm not aware of 60 amp mobile generators to run a tanning bed (which would pass any cities' noise ordinance for full-time use for 5-20 minutes), I'll assume you're spraying. I'd think for liability reasons this is going to be a show stopper. I wouldn't put my $1M liability policy on the line, even with an indemnity (sp?) clause or waiver. I didn't read Mr. B's unedited message, but what appears seems like a light-hearted response. Very mild by this board's standards. _________________ John I'd rather be here....and the lead bike [ This Message was edited by: JohnnyComeLately on 2005-05-25 18:19 ] |

Seriously, the question sounds like the individual wants to start a mobile airbrush service, or rent space in a salon and air brush the clients. Maybe I should have answered with "Yes, the great majority of my mostly female clientelle would feel very uncomfortable having a male, whom they were not familiar with, provide such an intimate (non-sexual) service. Good luck though." Better? [ This Message was edited by: mr belvedere on 2005-05-26 02:18 ] |
