Rep Power: 0 | Hi, this will probs come across as a really stupid question (sorry!) but - i have a home tanning unit of 24 100w wolff tubes and im wanting to change them. my question is: i know i can order the tubes myself, but can i change the tubes myself, or must i get a professional in to do it? if i can change the tubes myself, do any of you have any suggestions/tips on how to go about doing it? Thanks, Debs. |

Rep Power: 0 | You should be able to order and change them yourself. You should were rubber or surgical gloves when changing the bulbs especially when handling the new ones and you should probably where safety glasses or they make ones that are UV blockers for the purpose of changing and cleaning the bulbs. Hope this helps. Debbie |

Give the lamps a quick wipe down before putting them in but it's not gunna hurt the lamp if you touch them. HP lamps are a different story. You'll ruin them if you touch them but don't worry about that. |

Rep Power: 0 | hey, thanks for your replies. they have settled my mind a bit! only thing that im finding a worry now is removing the acrylic!... another question i have is : is it best to replace the starters the same time i change the tubes/bulbs? i only ask this because ive read somewhere that each time you replace the tubes you have to change the starters - not to sure if that rings true tho. once again, thanks for the input! debs. |

The oils from your fingers get on the lamp and create a hot spot and will shorten the life of the lamp greatly. When ever changing out HP lamps always wear rubber gloves and wipe the lamp down with rubbing alcohol if you do happen to touch it with your fingers. |

Rep Power: 20 | When changing an HP lamp, once the bulb is touched with your finger it will burn the finger print on the lamp if not wiped off. This will interfere with the UV output, by blocking the light at the fingerprint mark. It does not shorten the life of the lamp, it just causes a yucky burned finger print and a blockage of UV light. |

Rep Power: 20 | Check into that engfant, I have and I was trained by a tanning bulb manufacturer on sales of tanning bulbs, I have it in writing.... It doesnt SHORTEN the life of the lamp. That is the only part that I disagreed with. |
