Rep Power: 0 | Well I just found out today that I'm out of a job at the end of the month. The salon that I work at has been sold and the new owners take over May 1 st. The new owner is going to run the salon herself so she's not hiring any of the staff thats there. I've been there for 2 yrs. now and love it. It's gonna be hard to leave especially the customers who I got to know really well . And get this I get a phome call a few minutes ago and it s the new owner and she's asked me not to tell any of the customers that I'm leaving at the end of the month. I did'nt really say anything but come on I want to tell the customers that I'm leaving and at least have a chance to say good-bye. Anyone ahve any ideas??? As to what I should do....?????? |

Rep Power: 20 | If you are not going to work there any more, feel free to tell them good-bye. The new owner is probably worried about losing customers when she takes over. Customers in tanning salons dont like change, and they will probably go else where anyway. If she works real hard and keeps the salon up she should have no problem getting new customers. I wouldnt lose sleep over it. I would wait for your last week though to tell them. I was in a very similar situation before I owned a salon and I made sure to tell my customers good-bye especially after 3 years of seeing the same people everyday. Good Luck. |

There's no need to talk bad about the new owner, just mention the sale and the fact that they are not planning on keeping you. Let the customer draw their own conclusion... |

Rep Power: 28 | If you are out of a job at the end of the month what can they do if you choose to say bye bye to your favorite clients? Fire you????.. Nope-- that box has been checked already. Not pay you? Nope-- that means legal ramifications.. Make you feel bad while you finish out the month..maybe.. Owners own businesses..not peoples lives--especially when they no longer wanna write you a paycheck. |

Rep Power: 25 | I guess I might try a different tact. It seems POSSIBLE that this new owner has NO idea how much work it is to run a tanning salon on her own! Let alone not knowing all the "nuances" of the customers, equipment, software, etc. If she is hiring "none of the current employees" that means that it takes more than one of you now - and you already know what you're doing!! I think I'd play by her rules and ask if you can continue to tan there (perhaps she might let you buy your first package at a discount, but if not, I'd even pay full price). Be helpful, sweet, nice. Tell her how much you have loved working here and how great the clients are - how much she is going to love it! Ask her about her plans - and be interested. Show up to tan - maybe at the time many of your current favorite clients do? They'll be SO excited to see you, you'll carry on like old friends, and she can't help notice your great ways with the clients....... As she takes over, mention your interest in working if she ever changes her mind and needs to hire someone. Perhaps mention it again around June 1st, after she's had a month of being slammed!!! You may just find yourself with a job back faster than you (or she!) thought..... It's an idea - no sense burning bridges if you love the place! |

Rep Power: 0 | If I were you, I would tell your customers good-bye too. After working there and getting to know them and you didn't that would just be wrong. You aren't going to work there anymore. Just be honest and tell them why you are leaving. It's not your fault. Good Luck! |
