Rep Power: 0 | I use to work at Paramount and I still have a couple of friends who work at Viacom/CBS and they are hearing Blockbuster is coming out with a "youth" concept. Since they are loosing store traffic due to the net they are creating "youth retail" services. They told me they are thinking of putting tanning beds / video/ internet / large screen Tv's and you can play video games as well. They will have competitions and tournaments for the video games, they are trying to make it a place were all of the young people could hang out and get tan! I guess they need to try something until there leases run out! |

Rep Power: 30 | In the past I would have exclusives that kept someone else from doing the same thing I did if that was their "primary business". The grocery store or dollar store could still sell movies because that was not their primary business. |

Rep Power: 0 | I know for sure of one blockbuster franchisee that also has tanning. They do 10.99 per month unlimited. _________________ Why can't we do both?[ This Message was edited by: videogirl25 on 2005-04-17 16:22 ] |

Rep Power: 0 | I'm in law school. Walgreen v. Sara Creek Property Co. 966 F.2d 273 You have a service "tanning" or in the above case a pharmacy means you can prevent your landlord from allowing in a business with a similar service if you have a good contract. I don’t know what would happen if someone already 'in' wanted to add in a competing service. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: eaadams on 2005-04-30 04:24 ] |

Rep Power: 0 | If you have an exclusive you can prevent them from adding another such service. However you will pay more in rent with an exclusive. A smart lanlord will not add two such services to see two people paying the rent compete. It has nothing to do with wiht if you have a good contract. It's if you have an exclusive in your contract or not. _________________ [ This Message was edited by: GENIUS on 2005-04-30 07:26 ] |
