How do you determine the amount of minutes for a tanning booth? I have 2 one is a Wolf, with 48 160 watt bulbs which is a 10 minute booth, and I have a Tan America with 48 Bulbs and 2 500 watt facials that is a 12 minute booth. What is the formula to determine if it is a 10 minute or a 12 minute?

WOLFF is not a bed or a stand-up...
Wolff is the technology that makes the bed work.
I hate it when someone says they have a WOLFF bed.....or booth.
The booths should have a exposure label on them...use them based on the skin types of your clients.

Your Tan America Sun Up is a 12 minute unit. Like Margaret said you should have exposure labels on the units. And should be tanning people by their skin type for the right amount of exposure.

Wow - jump all down the guy's throat for goodness sake!

I think that is actually a legitimate question. There ARE beds that seem to have more/stronger lamps at more minutes or less/weaker lamps at less. And, as we all know, some beds, with the same lamps, don't tan 'as well' as other beds. It isn't as easy as just adding up the wattage or anything like that, which is what I would guess he was wondering.

That said - yes, there is supposed to be a label on the beds. And IF you are in a regulated state, or IF you use OEM compatible lamps -- then this should still correspond. This is all tied to the MED output which the manufacturer is responsible for determining. Of course, if you don't use OEM compatable lamps, then the lamps you use can certainly "change" what the correct tan time "should be".

Thank you SooSamm.

I loved the B.S. I got. Not sure if I will ask any questions anymore. You and Sunsally aer correct in taht I was just wondering how they figure it. I have been doing this for over a year and a half now with no problems. I may not be a long timer, but at least I do know what I am doing. It is an ATS Sundome for those that are interested with wolff bulbs. I know it is 10 minutes, IT SAYS SO, and the TA SunUp II ALSO SAYS 12 MINUTES> I am not a jerk! Just curious as to how it was figured!
