sick employee picks up paycheck - tanTALK

I have an employee that seems to catch everything in the wind, immediately and several times. For 2 days now she has called in sick. Says she is throwing up. Thinks she has the flu. I asked her how come she gets the flu so much? Anyhow, today was pay day. She's out sick. Other employees are covering for her. She came in to get her check at lunch time. She asked the other girls if I was there and they told her yes I was in the office. Well, she left. Didn't come by to give me an update or check her schedule for next week. Just pick the check up and left.

Made me mad! I docked her an entire day of work for the upcoming week. So next week she is scheduled for less hours. If she gets sick again, I guess I'll reduce her hours again.

Does anyone have other suggestions for handling this?

Ohhh! Engfant! You crack me up. ) You're just so honest. Gosh, actually.........I know you're right. I hate that...........she cleans so well.

By the way, that little purple face was supppose to be part of a smiley face (eyes and nose). I'll have to get the hang of this typing with icons possible.

Yeah, sounds like this girl is just too chicken to come out and say she quits. Save her the trouble and fire her. Or gradually ween her off the schedule like you"re doing.

out sick...need a doctors note to come back to work.

Yeah I would make her bring in a dr note then I would cut almost all her hours. Sounds like she doesn't want to be there anyway.
