Hi,

I am curious about methods of selling a salon. My husband and I want to sell because we moved further from our salon and found a property that has room for a tanning salon on the 1st floor and has a hair rental and apt rental with it. We have our salon for sale with a realtor and its being sold confidentially so we cant just put a sign out front. We only got one call on it so far. Any suggestions on what some of you might have done to sell your salon? I cant just sell the business and equipment its in a leased building and the lease has to be fulfilled first. Thanx for any help.

Do you have an exclusive agreement with the broker? It might limit you from going elsewhere to try and sell. If no binding restriction, I'd pick up one of the trade journals and call a salon broker. I also heard through the grapevine Executive Tans looks to buy salons in some markets, so call their corporate (this is all third hand, so it might be totally false and I make no claims about its validity).

Its located in berks county pennsylvania. Yeah I have it exclusive. Thanx for the idea I imagine they would try to nickel and dime me. I heard the same about hollywood tans likes to buy other salons in my area. I am the only tanning salon within 15 minutes of driving in any direction and I have developments around me near a golf course etc.. Selling it confidentially makes it tough because I dont want to lose clients and buyers dont know exact location without calling and talking to my realtor..
