Rumour is they are going in with 12 salons, 25 units min. per salon........ $14.99 a month unlimited. Yikes!!

Crazier things have happened! College town, high SES, etc Dennis can do one salon in a town of 9100 so 12 seems about right for 100K+

One location being considered is right at the Univ of Michigan football stadium! With 104K+ people attending games on Fall saturdays figured it might be a good way to boost traffic during the normally slow season! Plus, with all the drinking that occurs, they are much easier to upsell to the bigger packages and lotion purchases!

My partner spilled the beans, didn't he? Darn - now that word is out we'll have to go $9.99/mo to stay under our competition!

Who cares until it is real.

You should always be prepared for new competition.

Work to make sure that no one wants to move in your area, make them fear you!

They don't care. How often do you see a McDonald's right next to a BurgerKing? We're not there yet but just an example. A large franchise just moved in about stone throw away from a large, independently owned 60 bed salon in a town near me. I'm curious to see how that is going to pan out.

Fear not anyone - Neon Beach doesn't like me and so he just started this "rumor" to yank my chain. I played along to dispel his harbored myths of how "not fun" I am. It probably should have been started in the "say what" forum, but what do I know - I'm not a moderator. Besides, then it wouldn't achieve Neon's goal of trying to worry me!! It'll take more than this you Krazy Kat Neon!

Ann Arbor is already a very competive market with very good single and multi-salon groups in place - as well as franchises on the way. In that way, Ann Arbor can be "anytown USA" or perhaps more appropriately "Yourtown USA". As they say - operate your business as if your worst nightmare of a competitor was moving in next door tomorrow!! Never know when they might be!

I might have to bet that its Global Tan they just opened a bunch in the Tri City areas too. Let us know.
