Rep Power: 26 | TONIGHT ON THE CBS EVENING NEWS Here's an early look at what we're working on for tonight’s broadcast: Banning tanning. With skin cancers rates rising dramatically in young people, should tanning salons be off limits to teens? How much is too much? Eye on America investigates tonight on the CBS Evening News. Rep Power: 0 | is this just fear mongering on the heals of a proposed ban on underage tanning in California??? seemingly ridiculous in a state that has all the free, uncontrolled unpredictable UV one could absorb available for free, especially with all those smog alerts! really! better for them to get controlled, safe exposure times indoors |

Rep Power: 26 | Another hint on the slant of the story... Quote: Finally tonight, despite warnings about the risks of skin cancer, Americans continue to patronize tanning salons...but should teenagers also be allowed to pay for the perfect tan? Mika Brzezinski will bring us an Eye on America look at the debate over teen tanning. Source |

Rep Power: 23 | The legislature doesn't want teen to tan (indoors), but it is ok if they risk infection, death or mental trauma from abortions. Teens have the right to do with their bodies what they want if it includes destroying a fetus with out parental consent, but heaven forbid they tan in a controlled environment. It amazes me the mixed signals our future generations get from our politicians. We need to start taking them to task. |

Rep Power: 26 | Jim: And don't forget that a teen can have a breast implant in most states without parental permission. But then, we wouldn't want to pass any laws that would get in the way of the medical profession making a buck, would we. Hypocracy reigns supreme! |

Rep Power: 24 | Just watched the news article on this. The dermatologist did say that he feels tanning salons "could be" part of the increase in skin cancer among younger people. Dan Humiston of the ITA did a great job stating that tanning in moderation is good for you and also brought up the Vitamin D advantage. The biggest joke of the whole show was the teen they interviewed. She reminded me of Paris Hilton. When asked how she was thinking about what tomorrow would bring, skin cancer, etc. her reply was I'll go tanning tomorrow. Her parents stated that they preferred that she didn't tan, put teens will be teens and as a parent, you cannot say no to everything. What a joke! |
