Rep Power: 28 | I am looking into installing satellite radio in my studio and want to hear from those who installed it themselves or had it installed in their rooms professionally. My only prob is that instead of speakers in the rooms I want to still do headphones since I also have a massage therapy studio as well housed in the loft area of the building (just trying to control the noise) How much was it, complicated to run wires to each room for either headphones or speakers etc.... Any advice would be appreciated. |

Rep Power: 29 | Get a simple stereo receiver and a speaker distributor (probably more than the receiver but you can control each room from it) and then pick up a SIRIUS radio. They are $100. My only thing was running the antenna. You need LINE OF SIGHT which means I had to run an extension cord to the back of my building. (not that big of deal more of a time thing). SO, stereo receiver $100 Sirius $100/$13month Xtension cord (if needed) $35 cube speaker for each room (forget the headphones) $35-$75 Speaker splitter $2-400 |

Rep Power: 28 | engfant, I need to have the headphone jacks because of the noise for the massage side of the business. What type of speaker splitter do you have and where can it be purchased? I have an Aiwa multi channel receiver already that may be compatable it says it is multi channel. |

Rep Power: 28 | My only issue is that I do not have access to the outside at all, I am in a mall setting. lowest level of a mall with 15 story offices/hotels atop of us. There is a Radio Shack here around the corner and they are using theirs with just the little antenna aimed at the door (still no outside to be seen) so I assume it would work here as well.. |

Rep Power: 0 | radio shack, circuit city and those kind of places have antenna installed upon the roofs. I have XM in both hummers one was factory installed and one doubles for my house and H2. We bought them for the office but they will not work unless we install an antenna on the roof due to having a metal roof. Has become more of a pain in the neck. Just took a road trip and the XM saved me from going stir crazy in the car though. |

Rep Power: 0 | I have 4 XM radios and L-O-V-E them, but I use DMX in my salons. You don't need an antenna (it uses a hard drive and they continually send you updates), your customer can choose 4 stations and you can have it set up to operate only with headphones. I went to one very high-end salon and they had individual XMs in the room, but with over 100 stations to choose from, I would think they have a lot of trouble with people spending 5 minutes deciding which station to listen to during their 10 minute tan! Also, I think DMX is only commercial ($39 a month but 1/2 paid by co-op). XM commercial may be expensive -- I'm not sure. And if you use it like a home unit, someone might eventually rat you out and create a problem for you. Good luck. |
