Howdy!! Does anyone have any input on towels? We have a Magic Tan, and numerous other beds.. We are having a discussion on what color towels we should get.
My partner (business) would like white. I on the otherhand see some downfalls to white. 1.) the client sees some of the product left on the towel which the client paid for. 2.) With constant bleaching, how long will the towel last,,washes that is. AND 3.) I said that "These towels must be WHITE,,if for chance that there is 1 little smudge of mascara(sp?)or dust/anything, we have rendered that towel useless..
Does anyone have any input as to what we should do?? I mean, white is awesome but I fear that we will get less use/washes from a white towel than per/say Burgundy?? All feedback appreciated..This is just for ammunition to make a good debate with my buddy..

We use burgundy towels for our Magic Tan booth and white for the regular tanning. We have used white towels for over 6 years (not the same ones, new ones every year:) ) and VERY RARELY do we have to turn one into a cleaning rag because of makeup stains. Our towels came from Sam's Wholesale Club -- perfect size, and a great price.

Man,,,,,,,Here is a big ole bear hug from Montana!!! This is just the info I needed...I figured that with bleaching and such that the white towels would crumble and fray...I thought it best to have colored ones that wouldn't show stains. I figured that we would get more use out of colored ones. Heck, I don't know. We just want to have everything in our salon look NEW AND SANITARY...
SO ,,,,if what you are saying is true,,,,, Then WHITE is the way to go??

Oh,,, By the way,,I have found distributors that will get the white towels for $10.95/doz. for the white,,and 11.95/doz. for the colored. Seems fair enough to me.. BUT.......... We don't want to sacrafice price for quality...Much better to have a softer towel than to have one that will scratch a tan off and make you bleed with one wipe!!!(Much like gym class,,has anyone heard of "DOWNY"?)
Costco is an option...
I think at this point,,, what we should do is,,,clean the beds with the towels that are pretty much used beyond their half life, and use the newer towels to clean the bodies...Pray tell that someone doesn't use the same towels to clean their beds as they use to wipe sweat from customers.............!!!!!!!!!!
LET ME KNOW........

White is the way to go. Order an extra dozen for the ones that get ruined, no big deal...use them to clean with. We use to order direct from a textile company in Ohio, but yr after yr the towels were different sizes and different quality so we just decided on the ones at Sam's. They have proven to be consistent in size and quality, so hopefully you have a Sam's near you!
We dont bleach our towels, by the way. No need to. Just use a strong detergent in HOT water and you'll be fine.

Thanks guys................... MUCHO APPRECIADO!!!!!!!!! Or something like that...
Heck ,,,we have a COSTCO up here, but no SAMS club..
AT this point, I guess I lost my arguement... WHITE it is...!!!!!!!!
Are you guys SURE that any of the tanning lotions/bronzers/tinglers/ lotions and stuff don't stain the towels?? My point to my buddy was that,,"IF" we preach sanitation, and having the "Cleanest salon in the valley" (Lots of quotes here!)
THESE TOWELS BETTER BE ALL WHITE!!!!!!!!!!!
Point being that ,,,I don't want even so much as a fingerprint on the towels, for fear that a customer might get a towel with a smudge on it!! That is what gives me the EEEWEEEGEEBEEssssss!! I reckon that I'm wrong.........
Then why do salon's have colored towels??

I think a lot of salons try to match the towels to their decor, but for us, white is the cleanest looking. No chance of any stain or poor wash job hiding on a white towel. There was ONE lotion that used to stain our towels few yrs ago.....i think it was Aloha Tan Bronzer, not sure.
We use the burgundy towels for the Magic Tan because thats the color of the solution . I think a customer would be overly concerned after a session if a white towel was covered with burgundy/ bronze solution ....

Actually, WalMart probably has the same towels as Sam's Club since its basically the same store.

You guys/girls are AWESOME!!!!!! THANK you sooooooooooo much for your quick reply... I really appreciate it...
I have done some research on acrylics and bulbs and such.. I have met some pretty awesome people and have compared prices..This site is very informative..
Quite the market here...Everyone is trying to save a buck or two...I guess that you have to make your own connections... We all get quoted different prices, depending on how big/much/ and so-forth that your salon will buy.. Much as in my industry..(Insurance).. I do have much advice to give on the insurance standpoint.............
Thanks for all your help.......
