Help!

A customer has recently complained that the spring loaded hinges on one of my Sontegra 30-31 beds failed while she was cleaning the bed, causing the canopy itself to fall down onto her back.

I have been unable to recreate the fault. Has anyone else out there experienced the same problem? If so, any suggestions as to how I repair it?

The 30-31 has adjustable springs. Have you tightened them? If not, call us at 1-800-826-7727 and we'll explain it. Also, there should be a diagram in your instruction booklet showing how to do this. If you don't have this, let us know your fax or email address and we'll get you the diagram.

The spring adjustment is accessible through the FRONT of the unit, so it is not a horrendous project.

After you have adjusted the springs, you know they are properly adjusted if:

1. You pull the top down 4 or so inches and it wants to pull back up,

2. After 4 or so inches the top feels light and comes down smoothly,

3. When it is all the way down, the top is level, and the gap between the top and the bottom is even the whole length of the bed

When the springs are properly adjusted, the top feels very lightweight, and customers should be advised to use the handles to GENTLY guide the top down and not yank it down!

Any questions, call us at 1-800-826-7727.

I just replaced 15 year old palm beach sontegra beds with newer models...just to update my equipment. They still ran great and was able to sell them for $500 each.
