HEY EVERYONE, I HAVE OPENED A NEW SALON A MONTH AND A HALF AGO WELL WASN'T OPEN MUCH DURUNG THE HOLIDAYS PLUS I HAVE KIDS AND THAT MAKE IT HARD. THOUGHT AT FRIST I COULD TAKE THEM UNTIL I TRIED ! WELL THEY DIDN'T WORK OUT TO WELL AT THE SALON ! AND I THINK PEOPLE COME TO GET AWAY AND RELAX (I DO NAILS TOO!) NOT TO HEAR MY YELLING KIDS!
ANYWAYS I'M STARTING TO OPEN MORE BUT DON'T SEEM TO GET THAT MUCH BUSINESS,MY PLACE WAS FORMERLY A NAIL SALON AND WAS CLOSED 4 MONTHS AGO DUE TO THE EX OWNER NOT GETTING A GREEN CARD . I WENT THERE BEFOR I OWNED IT HE WAS VERY BUSY. SO I'M NOT SURE WHAT HAPPEN . HOW DO YOU ALL THINK I NEED TO ADVER? WHAT OTHER CHEAPER WAY CAN I GET SOME BUSINESS TO COME IN . RUN OUT OF MONEY AT THE END OF REMODELING THE PLACE!

5 year plan. If you are looking to make money today, go visit the local gorcery store. You NEED to have a set date to work for that's realistic.

"If you build it, they will come" is only true if you are a whore house and that's it.

I GUESS WHAT I AM ASKING IS WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO ADVER. THAT WILL BRING PEOPLE IN? IN ADDITION TO 2 HIGH SCHOOLS W/ IN 3 MILES THERE IS A COLLEGE SHOULD I GO TO THE COLLEGE TO LEAVE FLYERS? SHOULD I HAVE SPECIALS FOR COLLEGE STUDENTS? HELP!!! PLEASE
ALSO WHAT WINTER HOURS ARE BEST TO BE OPEN????

There are lots of advertising ploys to use, fliers, newspaper ad, neighborhood "door hangers", just to name a few.
Hours will depend on you. Most salons stay open from 9 AM till 9 PM mon - sat and 9AM till 4 PM on sunsad. Othershave hours opening later and closed on Sunday.
Look at the competition.

When you say "open more" do you mean longer hours or are you coming in when you have the time??? You definitely want to be there as much as possible especially just opening (or re-opening in your case.)

P.S. Turning off the caps would be much appreciated. Unless you are really yelling.

Thanks to you all and sorry about the caps. lol To reply to you I guess I mean longer hours. I have a girl thats gonna help me with opening in the morning so I can take care of my kids! Then I will go in around 1:00 so i guess i can stay open til 9:00 . I was thinking 10:00 in summer or busy season? what do ya all think about that? long enough? I want to give my clients the freedom to tan when they want and not have to rush to make it on my time! THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR HELP REALLY GREATFUL
