Rep Power: 107 | The youngsters, aged 11 and 13, spent 24 minutes on the beds at an unmanned salon in Stirling. The boys' parents called the police and environmental health officers at Stirling Council also investigated. However, they said they could not take any action because the law does not ban under-16s from using the beds and the salon was unmanned. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/scotland/3605064.stm |

Rep Power: 0 | un-manned tanning salons? I had never heard of this but I think it's ridiculous. Who cleans the beds? the tanners? most tanners don't know how long they should be tanning and need guidance! how clean can these places be? wow, the thought of these places infecting and burning people is so frustrating!!!! |

There are a handful of un regulated states where this is legal. I have a client in PA that has one he has been running for years. There is a vedor here on TT vendatan is their banner and their user I believe is jallaround. They sell the coin op timers for these type of locations. The first time someone called looking for the coin op timers we had a cow that was the craziest thing I ever heard of but there are alot of them it reminds me of a laundry mat. Rep Power: 0 | I have never been in one but there are several apartment complexes here that have a bed or two in their laundry area. I don't know how they get away with it because, although I can't say for sure, I'll bet they are unmanned. Maybe they get away without a salon license because they don't charge? Our state regs say that you have to have an operator over the age of 18 on the premises at all times and we have to be able to regulate the tanning time from outside the room. |

Rep Power: 113 | I think it's actually going the other way. Meaning, back when I was in high school, (Way back in the late 80's! Yikes!) I went tanning for the first time before my spring break trip to Florida. The only place we knew to go was a hair salon that had 2 beds. You set your own timer and cleaned your own bed. No one there to tell you how long to go, or to use lotion, or anything. You'd be hard-pressed to find that around here these days.... |

Rep Power: 0 | It is against the law in our state to be unmanned or set your own timer. It couldn't very well happen even in a beauty salon because we are governed and inspected by the same professional licensing agency. |
