Rep Power: 0 | I have a customer - who had to be close to the limit I know, but I didn't ask their weight...and let them tan. The acrylic cracked in the bed. Of course she didn't tell me...I found it when I went in to clean the bed! So I knew when it happened. After replacing the acrylic I never said anything to her because I thought that maybe the acrylic just needed to be replaced anyhow. (it was about a year and a half old.) How do you handle that situation? Do you politely tell them they are to large, I was afraid of a discrimination lawsuit. |

Rep Power: 0 | If some fat *** cracked the acrylic in one of my beds, I'd make 'em pay for it...just the same as anyone else who damages anything else in the salon... Then, with any luck, they'd go and crack a few for my competition.... |

Rep Power: 22 | This has happened to us many times, we have never asked them to pay for the acrylic, however we suggest they use the standups, we explain the acrylics are very fragile, we approach them very tactfully, after all, they are bigger than we are. |

Rep Power: 0 | Free upgrade to stand-up for the large people....I honestly have no idea how many acrylics have been broken over the years but I'm guessing the average is about 3 per year....you always know when you hear the "krack"...the price of being in biz....sometimes when you offer the free up-grade they refuse but at least you tried....I can honestly say that the same person has only done it again one time....after that they were obligated to use stand-up units only....the lady understood and is still a good customer 3 years later. |

Rep Power: 0 | Thanks for the info, in effort not to sound harsh, I don't think this woman even thinks she is overweight. Luckily, my supplier offers a warranty bank, and I only had to pay 1/2 price for the acrylic. She sort of scares me anyway, she filed a lawsuit against a local food chain for slipping on their newly mopped floor, so you can see my apprehension in saying anything to her! Thanks for all your input! |
