Rep Power: 0 | Open 8am - 9:30pm M-F 11-5 Sat/Sun. 20 beds 250-300 daily...right now. Slow season usually last only three months for us and then we are still doing 100 plus unless it is the weekends. We are located on downtown campus and right now we are hitting 200+ and it's not busy season yet. We run very few specials. I am doing some things with local business for promos though, it's starting to catch on and help both us and the business out. |

Rep Power: 0 | I am looking to opening a salon in New Brunswick Canada but I am unsure if its a good idea after reading some of the replies . Each of you sound like you love the salon life but are barely making ends meet. I too love people and enjoy serving customers but also need to provide for my family . Any advice for me? |

Rep Power: 0 | MJ The best advise I could give is to make sure you have enough start up working capital and to make sure you save money during the busy season to carry you until the next season. In response to the original post. 16 units expanding to 24 in December In Season - 285/300 per day Off Season - 90/110 per day As mentioned earlier, it's not the number of tanners per day, it's what goes into the cash register Lee |

Rep Power: 21 | It sounds like the areas with lower tanning session prices do more tanners per day than the areas that have higher tanning session prices. I guess I'm glad in my area I can avg. about $10 per tan but I don't average 90 people a day like some of you. |

Rep Power: 0 | HI. City Video here. We were the ones that opened in April after buying the contents of the video/tanning store that burned in town and re-locating. Everyone seems to love the new location and store. BUT. We started during prom season with only three beds in a town of 2700. (Dogs & cats included) We had around 69 a day booked up 2 weeks in advance. We honored minutes that the former owners had sold, which totaled around 5,800 minutes. (No pay for us) After a month or so things were going pretty good. My daughter who runs it with me and I had to go to a graduation and left the store to a former employee of the former owners. I told him to do a special of 10 cents a minute for a session on Fri. Sat. Sun. (An hour's worth per customer) He sold 300 minute packages to everybody for 10 cents a minute. OUCH! Our regular prices are only $4 per session, less with a package. It is about all they will pay here. August died and someone in a neighboring town did a month unlimited for $20. So I did it for $35 for "August Unlimitied". Several took advantage. We are back at normal pricing nowin September, and only have 15 - 20 a day. I think Oct. will be slower yet, looking at the records of the past. Luckily we also do Cingular Wireless, Videos, High Speed internet and my daughter does Avon. (Of course it's around $350 - $450 a week expense to get new releases of videos. I'm sure hoping next year goes more smoothly. Does anyone know if Oct. - Dec. is typically very slow or just our area? |
