Rep Power: 0 | Without knowing your skin type and your tanning habits in general, it is difficult to create a suggestion that will work for you. Tanning is not a quickie process - you must do it systematically and regularly - and not simply wait one week before an event and then possibly overexpose yourself. A "reputable" tanning salon, such as the one you're tanning at, should be able to answer your question in much better detail than a chatroom! If I were you, I'd try a packette of X-Speed (Step 1) by CalTan. It's a top of the line tanning accellerator that yields incredible results. For your face, use X-Appeal (also by CalTan). If you like the product, I suggest you purchase a bottle of each, as it's a much better value than buying packettes. Don't forget to stock up on some of the premium SPF's available at most tanning salons - and make sure to include lip balm with SPF and/or SPF protection for your Tattoos (if you have any)... Hope that helps... Michael |

Rep Power: 0 | Thank You! Like I said, I am new at this, I chose the salon based on an overwhelming amount of recommendations and the fact that they are voted "best" by the town in the annual polls the paper does consistantly every year.( Area of about 75,000 ) I do not really know what other criteria to go by. They carry a large variety of product(Believe, fuji, Swanky girl and other Synergy) and everyone there seems to have their own favorite line. I have fair skin and brown hair. I just recently decided to try it and was hoping there was a way to get a little color fast. Id it cant happen it cant, but it di not hurt too ask. Also, is it normal to not notice ANY color after a week? If so , great, I just wondered. |

Rep Power: 21 | The only way to get it fast would be to get sprayed. As the post above states, the tanning process takes time. Depending on your skin type it could take anywhere from 10 to 15 visits to see a real difference. In some cases it can take even longer. It depends on your skin type and how much color you have to start with. There is no real miracle lotion out there. If there was a lotion that could tan a person with a "Real" tan in a week we'd all be selling it in our salons for a premium price. Also please remember this. Don’t get burned in an effort to speed things up. Burn does not become a tan. Although many people think that, it’s just not true. Burn in on the surface, tan in under the skin. And no, burn doesn’t “sink in” as many would have you believe. At the risk of sounding harsh……You should have started several weeks ago! Good luck with your search for fast color. |

Rep Power: 22 | I agree. A week is not long enough. In a good bed though you should see good results in 3 - 6 visits. Starting out it my belief you should space those visits at least 2 days apart. Then go 1 - 3 times a week depending on how well you hold a tan. Our local paper runs a best of also. City has like 135,00. We do run the best salon in town. I also know that we have the biggest salon which means we have the most people tanning there. That doesnt hurt when it comes down to a vote. Just because this salon won the award doesnt mean squat. Papers run these contest just to generate advertising money. If you havent gotten the results you want and the salon staff has not made you comfortable enough to ask questions, maybe you need to try another place. We dont carry Halo but I have heard it is good for quick color. It has a SPF in it. It is my understanding that it blocks out the UVB ray so that you will be able to tan longer. You can get faster color from the UVA ray while reducing your chance of burning. The tan just wont last as long. Also remember burning will make the tan come slower not faster. I hate it when people come in and say "oh I like to burn the first time it just turns tan". Burning is never good. |

Rep Power: 0 | LOL! thanks! i just made the decision to do this and thought it would be great if i could get a color quick. I never knew how much science was involved in tanning! What should I be looking for if not popular opinion? Any things I should watch for that are red flags of bad practice? What are signs of a good salon? |

Rep Power: 23 | burning -> BAD browning -> Good !!! look for a salon that has high pressure beds. these beds have all facial lamps head to toe, instead of just two or four face lamps at the head area. they will have enough UVB to stimulate melanin, and vitamin D, and enough browning power, without overexposure to get you color in as little as two to four sessions. if you've already been tanning in base beds, you will have melanin there just waiting to get all browned up. even if you have to drive a little bit further, you will be very pleasantly surprised at the amount of color you will receive. just make sure to take some spf with you on vacation, no matter what you do. spf allows you to stay out for longer periods without burning. depending on your skin type/sub-type and where you're going on vacation, you may need a few different levels of spf, 8, 15, and 30, depending on the length and time of day outside, along with the location (water, sand, and concrete, add to exposure), and alchohol impedes the decision-making and sensitivity process. |
