I need help from all of you ou there. I have a customer that has a skin pigmentation problem. He wants to tan but the white spots turn red and all around that turns brown. Should he tan? I am a little leary of this and not that experienced at this. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

What is his skin type, has he ever tried to tan before? If you are a Smart Tan member, I would email Steve Chaney, he may have some professional advice to help you. I always ask him, when in doubt. Just go to the site and click on his icon under ask us, ithink.
Good Luck.

Thanks Margaret, yes he has tanned before in my shop. He is a skin type 3 so its' normal. I just don't want him tanning in my shop until I know its ok. He is really concerned and so am I. He told me the other day that he has been tanning for years WITHOUT LOTION..... So I gave him the look. He knew what that was because I make it a must (as much as I can) to use lotion in my salon. Thanks again. I will see if I can get a hold of Steve Chaney.

I would have him get approval from his dermatoligist or dr that it's okay for him to tan.

Mitzi, thanks That is what I pulled up on the internet last night also and told him. I also thought of Vitiligo. But his does not look like that. I did tell him to go to the dermatologist also. But he probably won't listen to me. Him and I are close so I can talk about him this way. LOL Thanks to everyone so far.

Mitzi---------- perfect. I pulled that up and really appreciate this from you. I will pass it along. This should make him feel a little better. Renee

No problem. There are tons of information on this condition all over the boards. Most of the time it is Tinea Versicolor that is the culprit.
