Is there anyone on this board that owns an Ultrabronz Supernova and has been happy with the service offered by Ultrabronz America?

I have owned one of there Supernova’s for about three years had have found this company to be at times a little shady. I will start with the bulb problem.

Ultrabronz America was having a problem getting their Heraeus bulbs to last the 500 hours that I was guaranteed. But they were (Prior to November 2002) prorating the bulbs and refunding money for when the bulbs did not last the full 500 hours. This was a great program because out of 21 bulbs we would only have 3 or 4 last the entire 500 hours. Prior to the Nashville trade show of 2002 Ultrabronz America decided to try a new bulb design. I was told this was a new design from Heraeus that would last well past the 500 hours with no problems. And that I had to purchase a minimum of 21 bulbs, this also included a new set of sockets. To there credit they did offer a low price point for the bulbs. What I was not told was that they had dropped the prorating of the bulbs and that the bulbs were not Heraeus bulbs but a Philips bulb. And that I would not be able to purchase the Heraeus bulbs in the future.

Upon receiving the new bulb we found it had a little wire lead instead of a solid metal lead from the bottom of the bulb to the top of the bulb. This little wire lead made the bulb very delicate.

The bulbs performed very well up to about 380 hours. At that point the bulbs started to blow. The main problem we found was the glass at the end of the bulb where this little wire was attached was becoming damaged from normal use and the little wire would come off and the bulb would no longer turn on.

Once the first bulb blew I mailed Ultrabronz America the bulb back requesting a prorated refund for the unused portion. I received a letter about a week later informing me that they no longer prorate bulbs and that there stance had changed on the prorate program. Well I felt a little peeved that the policy had changed and that they had not contacted me to let me know of the change since I am a client with an active account. How hard would it have been to send out a post card with the policy changes.

Now for the fun part, I needed to order more bulbs to replace the bulbs they said would go 500 hours or better. I now find out they have switch back to the Heraeus bulb because they say it is a better bulb than the Philips bulb. And I can only purchase the Heraeus bulb. The price of the bulb is $99.00.

I have since found other bulbs are available and are cheaper. But Ultrabronz America has said they are inferior. I’m wondering if any one else that has an Ultrabronz Supernova has tried another type of bulb from a different manufacture. If so what was your experience as well as the price you paid for the bulb. And what has your experience been like with Ultrabronz America, positive or negative.

Harley,
Yes I have had some of the same problems with Ultrabronz. I bought 3 Supernovas at once. What a nightmare. Nothing but problems with these beds. When I change my sockets Ultrabronz sent me two sets of Heuraus and one set of Phillips. Phillips lasted 250 hours and the Heuraus lasted about 600. Since the new owner Bob Lathem took over the company warranty's nothing. Talk about shady! Ultrabronz should give away a free tool box when you purchase a bed because after owning one of these units you will be a certified Ultrabronz repair-man!!! This company sucks! Hank

I bought one in january of 2001 and some here nothing but problems but mine were worse the bed wasn't compatable with the tmax system so we had to use the manual override and set the bed in the room, then the lamps were going out like cheap light bulbs but what really peeed me off was that everybody had been notified by ultrascam to replace the ignitor's and that would solve the problem didn't then the lamp thing started and when I look at the time and shipping costs a little starts to addup. this company doesn't have a Quality control program and it shows the new lamps with the new sockets suck you can hardly get the lamps in the socket and I think they a not lasting because you damage them when replacing the lamps. I am very interested in a different lamp tha works in the bed and has nothing to do with ultrabronz please pm me thanks

I worked in a salon that had a supernova. great bed when it worked. after the owner of the salon threated ultrabronze legally they replaced the entire bed. however, this one didn't work either and wasn't the supernova, it was an older model. the original salon owner has since sold the salon and i assume the new owner is still having problems. I stayed far away from ultrabronze when picking out my beds for my salon. we went with the matrix l33 for our hp. great tech support, wonderful bed, half the time, but if you like the mattress, they have a new model with one and it is still half the time supposedly. i love tan america
